After: One Year Alone Building Log Cabin Where Is The Door! hogfry: If your wondering why he notches the frames like that it. It REALLY shows he knows his craft.
As I recall Log cabins tend to shrink and tighten as they sit. Basically as the logs lose moisture. The notches are meant to serve a bit like expansion joints, after he's framed in the Windows, and allow the house to tighten around the frames. It's a small detail but it'll matter a lot 2-3 years down the road.
This design is so simple but it's been given so much forethought it's truly impressive

Hi Erik! I don't know if you will find this message, but I have a few question
-what type of wood do you use
-Is it legal to build a house in the middle of nowhere and live in it?
-where are you living, where you edit your videos? because you don't look like a survivor from minecraft who eat mushrooms and berries fron the bushes
-why don't you use electric tools that charge with solar panels? it would be way easier
Thank you in advance for your answers
Greetings from Hungary: )

What I understood from your videos, you are absolutely, completely, definitely align with source. Doesnt matter what you call it, GOD sole, UNIVERSE, spiritual guidance. you are in your path. Path of least resistance equals to path of the most allowance. Thats the way it is. Low of the UNIVERSE. Glad to find you.

I'm not an expert by a long shot, been living in a cozy house built by my grandfather, but this is truly amazing. To me it seems very sturdy, very well built and strong. You have an amazing project in your hands, I bet you're proud of yourself and your work. Congratulations

This kid should be a guest designer for IKEA. He would design various furniture pieces like tables and chairs and the item would come flat-packed with some logs, a hatchet and a 2-page instruction sheet with no words - just pictures. I would buy one.

Kinda crazy you just do this in complete silence with the sounds of nature. No headphones in or background noise. Very admirable and something most people could never do or dedicate this amount of time to.

What is the breed & name of the dog you have there. I had a dog very similar in size when I was about the same age & he was gorgeous too. The log cabin is looking good -

Love the lingonberries! I grow them in my yard! But where is the door? Does he explain why he keeps using a tarp for a door for 2 years? Can animals get in?

Love the silence/lack of chatter. Maybe when he is done, he'll look into the camera and say OK, now what do I do. Amazing work Erik!
