Updates Downtown Pots + Mini Makeover
video description
I will be presenting City Pots to our MBA in January 2018, modeled after your program, thank you! Our town is much smaller, our Main Street would need far fewer planters but we are an Audubon Bird Town and many people are concerned about sustainable gardening, as am I. But, having said that, I see the purpose of the City Pots is to create beauty. I still would like to address the sustainability issue when I present.
Here is my pitch on sustainability. The annuals can be composted and serve as pollinators especially late in the season when so many perennials have succumb to frost. Native grasses can be used for thrill and then added to local public gardens or sold as a fundraiser. Boxwood can be used for the fall and winter for a few seasons while the gardens at Summerseat ( a historical home from the Revolutionary War era) are being reestablished, then Eastern White Pines, Red Twig Dogwoods or another suitable native plant can be used in the planters, which can be replanted or sold as fundraisers.
Thanks for letting me think this out here!
