Planting Amaryllis Bulbs Garden Answer Donielle: Buy them up when they go on sale after x-mas. I pot them up in one large communal pot, and put them in the sun outside. Water when they need it. The in mid august -zone 5 lay the pot on its side and let the foliage yellow and the chlorophyll feed the bulb. Cut off any dry foliage before you bring them in before the september frost. Then late oct or by nov. 1st. Top dress with a good light potting soil and light water until growth begins. I love saving the orphans that would likewise get tossed. Ive paid as little as 99 cents per bulb. Your videos are excellent.

so I bought a couple amaryllis bulns in Jan a little after Christmas I planted them in some miracle grow potting soil and both my bulbs have not produced any roots I fact they are starting to try out the soil is moist not too wet nor dry but there is fungus or some kind of fuzzy white hairs growing out the bottom where the roots should be so how do I make the bulb grow roots or how do I keep the bulb from rotting

Great video - thank you! Question please -- today is Feb 12 and I planted the bulb on January 12. The leaves have grown to 40 inches but no flower yet! I've been able to keep them upright using supports. But, they keep growing and they will soon choke me. I'm sure of it. What to do? I wonder if I should cut off or trim off the leaves? Please help me before these lil boogers keep growing and inhale me live.

Hi Laura and Aaron,
I just purchased a Red Lion Amaryllis. It can with a pot with no holes and soil disk. Should I punch holes in the pot for drainage? Love your videos
Love watching Benjamin growing up and following in your footsteps with your love of gardening. Can't wait for Baby Girl to arrive. Blessings to you and All of your family during this Holiday Season.

I have a lot of bulbs, however I need to plant them in a bed that has the black weed preventer plastic down. My question is, will this cause harm to my plants? I have spent hundreds of dollars to buy these huge bulbs and I do not want to kill them! If anyone knows I would appreciate your input!

How long does the blooms normally lasts? My wife received a bulb for a Christmas present. I prepared it and it bloomed this week with 8 blooms of red and white stripes from 2 stalks. Simply beautiful! So, now I am committed to Amaryllst along with my Cannas. Wow, I need a green house now.

I planted my amaryllis about a week and a half ago and only watered it the one time when I watered it in. the bloom stalks are about 1 1/2 inches tall already so how often should I be watering them now? and do they ever need fertilizer? if so what type and how often? is bloom booster ok?

I have had an amaryllis for 3 years which has rebloomed each year. I never fertilized it, should I do that? If yes, when do I fertilize it? When I am taking it out of dormancy and changing a bit of the top soil? What kind of fertilizer?

For years now Ive gifted amaryllis for family members at Christmas. This year I bought the ones dipped in wax. You dont have to do ANYTHING other than watch them grow and bloom. They brighten drab winter days! BTW-I loved the video!

My elderly mom got one of these for a Christmas gift by mail. placed it indoors in indirect light and watered. 5 weeks later. 3 massive red flowers and another last flower just opening up. really cool plant to brighten up the winter!
