Planting Up Our City Pots for Winter Garden Answer Lydia: I keep many large fish tanks and what people do to transport water to and from the tanks without having to use back-breaking buckets is this handy tool called a water changer/siphon. It is basically a plastic hose that connects to your sink and runs to whatever container you need water. You can accomplish the same thing though by getting a long garden hose and hose faucet adapter. I don't know how far away your closest indoor faucet is but I would just get the appropriate length hose and fill up a large trashcan in your plant room via that hose.

I have a tricolor beech in my yard. I planted it about 10 years ago. Im concerned that its high branches are producing bright leaves, but the lower are not developing as much color. In fact, some of the leaves are turning brown. Its also interesting that a branch of the tree has grown some large, Im assuming, generic beech leaves, much larger than the leaves of the tree. How does that happen?

Thank the powers that be that the truck didn't break down until after you got your hot drinks! Love the city pot projects. I pay more attention to the pots I see around town now. I appreciate more what it takes to make them happen. What a fun mother and daughter (and baby) day out. Cannot wait to see the pots all decked out with lights and bows! Thank you for another great video: -)

1st let me say we love your videos. 2nd I am glad you got the small 1cu bags so your 'worker' didn't have to carry the single 2cu bag. HAHA 3rd put in a small utility sink(cold waters only) and it could drain out to the yard. Water and drain can run in the same or another insulated flashing up the side of house. You can even run a heater along the pipe so it does not freeze.

Hi Laura, You have inspired us to pursue putting city pots in our small town! We love your adopt a pot idea and would love to know where you get your plaques/supplies. Thank you so much for all you do to keep us inspired in making the world around us more beautiful!

About your final hose-to-the-plant-room idea: beware of frost. Once it gets freezing at night, the hose will burst with water turning into ice. It might be both bad for the hose and for the facade of your house. You either need serious insulation, or a better idea

Hey Laura and Aaron! Quick question about your soil! I notice you almost always start with fresh bags of soil when doing summer or winter pots! Do you ever keep your old soil from any of those pots and reuse it or use it for other projects? Thanks a bunch!

If youre going to store your hose in a bathtub, why not just hook up a hose to a bathroom sink faucet? There's an adapter that goes from faucet to hose; at least until you devise something better which I'm sure you will. you guys are so creative!

Love your videos! Just a thought. with freezing temps outside wouldn't you end up with a frozen hose? You could always just keep a hose tucked away upstairs and connect it to your bathroom sink when it's needed.

I love this adopt a pot idea. I think theres a big market here in South Africa for that. How does it work where you are? Do the sponsors pay a yearly fee and a start up fee?
