Arranging Plants on Our Mantel for Spring! Garden Answer Sandy: Hi Laura and Aaron! I have to agree with Aaron, I liked the first one the best. The baskets look better with the colors of the fireplace rock. I might change out the birch pots for something more neutral, like the baskets, or the smaller black and beige canvas covers. I would not use the towels because they just seem out of place. Like others said, maybe do some trailing plants instead. Also, like others have said, maybe put the larger plants on the hearth and the smaller ones on top of the mantle. I love the mirrors and they would show up more. The 2nd and 3rd ones are pretty, but I feel that the color of pots in both clash with the fireplace rocks. Personally, I love the look of the fireplace and the black doors. I wouldn't change them. I'm excited about going antiquing with you and your Mom. Thank you so much for sharing!

Isn't it interesting how everyone has a different idea on what looks good? I actually find that quite reassuring since it proves there are many, many ways to make a lovely display, and I don't have to get hung up on what's right but can do whatever is most pleasing to me and those in my home. Laura, you seem to have mastered that attitude, but do you ever get drawn into that temptation to care too much about meeting someone else's perceived standards of the right way to design a garden or decorate your home?

Im glad you changed the pots because I liked the grey one you put up first but quickly changed. haha. Very nice, the round containers help even out the square corners of the fireplace and mantel, sort of, if you know what I mean, haha. Thanks for the encouragement, you've inspired me to tackle my fireplace, although we'll have to wait until its no longer being used ( wood. :-)

So pretty! With the first build, a square of yellow matching the color of the bees, draped in a diamond shape over the towel would have brightened up the overall look of it. The dark made me think more fall as well. You're right to keep changing it around to where it feels more you. Love the candles. No doubt they will find their happy place too.

I love your videos and follow your videos regularly. I love gardening too. I have lot of indoor Plants. I have a question. In summers we get gnats/fire flies through the indoor plants. What do you do to get rid of the small flies? TIA. Hope you going to answer.

Ok that wasnt enough of seeing the babies! I could stare at Samantha Grace all day. like all babies, and I was so interested Sri see what Benjamin had to say. I always love listens to his little accent. Being an Aussie, the American accent is always amusing.

Jane Austen is a favorite of mine, I also have found beautifully bounded copies of all her works! I like the rabbit tea towels too. But the best part is Samantha Grace. Its been a pleasure of seeing Benjamin grow, now we can see Samantha Grace as well!

Yay! Sense and Sensitivity, my favorite! The second arrengement looks gorgeous with those metal containers, love it, and the third one is the perfect mix between the first one that was more organic and 2 one.
