Formal Hedge with Sprinter Boxwoods- Part 1! Garden Answer Pamela: THANK YOU so much for putting it in perspective! I get impatient when I don't get to plant anything and it's just about prepping the soil or removing invasive vines or pulling weeds. My husband and I bought an almost 100 year old Colonial and it took me a solid year to get a feel for the types of gardens I wanted. That pesky prep work pays off in spades, it's just hard to focus on that when you're in the thick of it!

WOW! That looks amazing Laura: ): ) You are soooo good at designing and visualizing an area! Thank you for the blank slate design tips, that was extremely helpful and better advice than any tips I heard before, seriously! You are absolutely right that the crab apple does a great job at being a focal point. I love how beautiful the area looks, you are a natural designer!

I am so excited for/with you guys! It's really rewarding seeing everything come together thank you for sharing and I can't wait to see it evolve and fill in
Also that crab apple at the end of the path is DIVINE! I love how it ties in to your garden like the other white one you have with the statue. It's going to be glorious as an end to that space.

Interesting the Sprinter Boxwoods do not have the odor! I've always preferred Yews over Boxwoods due to that scent. Now, I'll have to begin planting some Sprinter Boxwoods to see how the perform in comparison to my 30-year old Yews (which are still lovely and doing very well.

Thanks for great video. I have several boxwoods in a row and they are getting high. I want to trim them and make a squared formal hedge. there is a lot of uneven growth so I know if will take years before I have a nice square hedge. do you have a video on this?

I think some kind of big focal point would look good at the end of the path with maybe some kind on concrete sitting area so you can enjoy the view. It doesn't look like there is anywhere to sit on that side to enjoy all of what you have done. Love it!

OMG! Great design. I'm not a professional, just a home gardener, but I too designed my yards. I love your design, I love how you came up with it, the decisions you made. Wish I could see it in person. So awesome! I love everything about it!

I agree with not putting a large concrete urn at the end of your vista but I think something special like a large sculpture. Sculptures are wonderful in the garden it adds life and animation. I have not seen any sculptures in your garden

The crabapple at the end is great as it grows you could add a fountain etc. like your Ebie area in the front that is beautiful. I am so I love with it I am going to check to see if the crab apple will grow in our area, Texas.

You should plant more food type perennials plants. You could have so many berries and fruits all through out the garden. Feeding not only you guys but the birds as well as the bees. You could have a massive food forest!
