Beautiful Foliage Plants for Part Shade! Garden Answer katg: Would it be possible at the end of the video to list the names of the plants you planted? I just realized I didnt write any down, and now have to go back through to find you describing each one. We have tons of shade, and this garden is gorgeous. My daughter is a beginner gardener, just bought their first home, so sharing ideas with her. You are so great, thank you! I learn a lot and you make it look so easy. What do you suggest for clay soil, and just depleted soil?

Beautiful! About 5 years ago my husband and I started making gardens in our landscape! I absolutely love Japanese maples! I planted 3 of them in different parts of the yard! Unfortunately last winter was brutal here in Wisconsin (polar vortex. I believe I have major dieback as only my emperor has the bottom with leaves, top is bare. The other two have nothing yet. I'm so bummed. Do you recommend anything to possibly save them! Thanks. Love all your videos!

I was just thinking about you saying that you were wanting to get more into foliage plants, especially for shade, and I was thinking that you would probably like Tabularis Astilboides or Rodgersia. They have great texture and big leaves and they look like a tropical type plant and take up a large area. And the Tabularis looks awesome in a pot too! Anyway, thought you might like to look those ones up Thanks for the great videos!

I had to share this story. I was at my local nursery yesterday after watching this video. My basket was full of the plants you talked about as Im in the middle of redoing my shade bed and I loved the plant selection you used. A very nice lady in line behind me asked, Did you watch Laura today? She used all these plants. Kansas is well represented! Thanks for all the inspiration!

So beautiful! loving the shade plants, I have an area in my yard that would be perfect for a couple of the Heucheras, and also the Autumn Frost Hosta. Thank you so much for the great tips on shade loving plants. I really want a Japanese Maple but I don't think I have enough shade for one, maybe I will have to rethink and look at my yard. Have a great weekend and see you soon.

In one of your answer videos you said you dont want Bishops weed. I have had it and love it but it got drown out by other ground covers I had. I think your reason was because it is so invasive. Could you go into a little more detail as to why you dont want it and if one does how to best support it and how to keep it in its place?

HELP! I am having such a terrible time with slugs on my basil and cucumber seedlings. I've tried soap+oil with water, hot sauce, peppermint oil. nothing works! I want to keep the remedy kinda natural because they are edible plants but they have eaten 1/2 the seedlings and most of the basil.

I planted two Eye Spy Heucherella and one Dolce Wildberry underneath my pine tree and they didnt come back up. Can someone tell me what I did wrong? My hostas, chicks and hen, and astilbe came back up but not these. Also, I planted a Ligularia bottle rocket and that didnt come up as well.

Thank you so much! 3 trees in my front yard and I was struggling with what to plant. I can't wait to get the Lemon Elderberry! The winter interest picture sold me on the plant. I already have 1darker heuchera in the area. Colorado, Zone 5

This is interesting to see Hostas and other plants doing so well under a pine tree. I was told pine tree make soil was too acidic for most plants. I had two blue spruce pine trees and couldnt get flowers to grow in soil by them.
