Poinsettia Care Guide Garden Answer Ladyboywonder: I just thought of a good chip for all of your people who deed a decorative home and who live with clumsy people who like to touch cardboard boxes in their home:
Use a decorative hat box and put something like a vase on top of it, make sure that the box is inverted so that the lid is on the bottom, (protect it with a dish inside) and that way nobody will question why you have a cardboard box in your home and lift it up and horse around and act like a jerk, and take your cardboard box to the recycling! if it looks decorative they will assume its got your knitting supplies in it, and they will never touch it

Great video. I learned a few things! But about pets, in some cases, they may need medication from eating a poinsettia. From Huffpost article:
If your pet should eat your poinsettia, Konecny recommends calling your vet or ASPCA poison control. Often the signs are mild and ingestion is generally not life threatening, she said, adding that, depending on the amount ingested and the clinical signs, supportive care (fluids, medication) may be necessary.

Thank you for this video. I just got a bunch for $1. 98 Home Depot and I am propagating some branches but plan on keeping them year-round. I am planning on covering them maybe with thick black trash bags instead of moving them. I really want them to turn into little mini trees. One of them has the branch cut and it looks like old wood on the bottom so I am very hopeful for that one. Im just trying my best not to overwater. I added a lot of perlite just in case.

5: 50 One of the dogs I was walking for my neighbor as a side business got into her poinsetta and the dog got super sick from it. It developed pancreatitis and lived for a long time afterwards but it had a special diet and a gnarly scar running down his side. I also think it must've ate the soil the plant was in so exposure to pesticides pests and fertilizer probably wasnt great for him either

Wow! I have a beautiful variegated poinsettia that I want to keep alive and Im going to try, but ohmygosh! Thats a lot to keep track of. Im going to do it just because Im up for the challenge. Now I wish I had kept my amaryllis bulbs because at the time I thought it seemed like a daunting task, but this makes the amaryllis seem like a piece of cake.

The BEST way to water a poinsettia is to let it soak up water from a dish and NOT water from the top! The leaves will fall off if you water from the top. I have tested this for years, and it works. I live in Southern California, 1 1/2 from the Mexico border. I have no idea why people water them from the top when they are grown in water.

I made 2 HUGE MISTAKES: I was gifted the most dramatically gorgeous poinsettia for Christmas. I moved to house and 1) didn't realize Poinsettias are tropical, so 2) I put the little beauty outside next to a shrub and we had a hard frost that night. The poor thing now looks pitiful and sad. Is there any way I can revive this beauty?

My mom had one from like the grocery store and she kept it in its nursery pot for a whole year and it wasnt doing well, and I felt sorry for it and so out of desperation I planted it in the ground outside, and now its doing really well, but now my parents are pressuring me to get it to bloom again lol

Yo! Thats crazy. I just wanted to revive my plant cus it looked dead. I pruned it now I can do a few things from this vid I wasnt doing before. But it gets a little out of hand towards the end. I dont know if Im cut out for that type of detailed approach for my plant but Ill try for sure. Gee

Hi Laura, Im following your tips of keeping them dark for 12-15hrs a day, though when I retrieve them from the dark, they seem to be yellowing a little and seem tired. Is that part of the reddening process? Any advice is appreciated! With your help Ive kept them alive since last thanksgiving!
