How We Maintain Our Gravel Driveway and Keep it Free of Weeds! Garden Answer justin: Has anybody used Noxall for weed control? What were the results, per, application rate. I need something for my gravel drive. kinda thick with weeds, (neglected). if it rains hard. significant run-off > concern, Been using Spectricide G&W killer, liquid concentrate, for a couple years, on nice days. I mix it, a tick above, their highest rate. slow pace, 2 gal. pump sprayer, results are like,
a half kill rate. Also, looks like, what I think, is the Spurge, < I'm not sure which type of weed it is, low crawling, very robust, which is the worst, pretty upset that I have to spray again in a month.
I need a much better, Hopefully inexpensive, with longer lasting results, type product.
(and yes. my cake too: ) I suppose I could just double my mix rate, of the Spectricide, but. I'm not crazy about that idea either? I understand I could Casoron it, and bring in new rock, but,
. A) I'm sure I won't use Casoron, (and/or cloth) because off the run-off issue, and B). I'm cheap that way. so that won't be happening, any time soon. .Any recommendations? I would appreciate any help, thanks.

You have a really nice place! Just wanted to say that you can always scrape up gravel and remove it. You're not stuck with it if you really don't want it. A good skidsteer operator can get most all of it. And if your gravel is limestone it doesn't break down so instead of redoing your entire area when it starts getting packed down you can back drag it with a skidsteer and respread it! You can also do that to get rid of weeds. You may want to invest in your own skidsteer! great video!

FYI - I bought this a few weeks ago to try it out. I believe the mixing is 1: 3. So a small and expensive container doesn't produce much spray. Sprayed a small portion of my gravel driveway -- killed about 1/4 of the weeds. Waste of money in my opinion. Couldn't believe how little a bottle goes. Going to try something else. I have no idea how this lady affords to do here huge driveway with this stuff. She must be spending hundreds (if not thousands) a year on burnout.

why not just do aggregate concrete and you will never have to worry about the ugly gravel moving aggregate will always look nicer and still give it that slight gravel appearance. Why waste your time putting gravel where you worry about a car messing up your gravel, plus on gravel, you can slip. It will be cost-effective in the long run and little to no weeding.

Unfortunately chemicals organic or not will over time cause the dirt to rise up through the gravel and make weed rooting even easier. This happens quicker than you'd think like 2-3 seasons. The same thing with ice melt. Vinegar soap solution is gentler, but the same will happen over a longer period of time.

she has no clue whether her non selective weed killer also kills bees. all in the name of her wannabe french knockoff garden. i looked it up for her, from their website: It should be applied when bees are not foraging and away from bodies of water (areas of drift also. yeah, organic indeed.

I'm 2 years late but glad I found this one as I prepare to maintain my gravel driveway. Also grateful for the property size, I have 2. 5 acres and you've validated that anything is possible. I have so many ideas and plans in my head and can't wait for Spring 2022!

What I would recommend since we do this at the company I work at we pull all weeds at the beginning then come back the same day with a atv with a sprayer attached and drive around spraying burnout on the gravel then once a month pull and spot spray

Good information and tips! A couple suggestions, though you obviously are careful. Disposable rubber gloves perhaps and without question I will ALWAYS wear safety goggles or eye protection of at least some type when working with toxic/strong chemicals.

I may have missed this question, but I'm wondering if all of your driveway is edged, or do you maintain a live edge with the lawn? We really like a stone driveway, but our very carefully dug and placed edging shifted up over the winter freeze.
