Container Competition September Update! Garden Answer sc00badive: I really liked the contest with all the different pots. My favorites were the poor abused pot on the end, I love the color combination and Im gonna copy that one. I also loved the daisy pot, but when its not in bloom, its a dud, too bad theres not another bloomer to fill in while the daisy recovers. Also the canna and chartreuse pot, gorgeous! And the yellow canna pot, beautiful! Cousin It was really funny and great color combination. Id like to see all around the coop, and wheres the asparagus?

That slow release fertilizer is powerful.
I think if you had time to manicure them and spray them daily, we'd have a completely different look for September.
That one Red Canna thrived as a solo, perhaps overcrowding the pot with 3 is why they say to put spacing between plants, it really helps them not fight for nutrients and water. Aaron's red canna had no crispy edges at all on the leaves.

Now. after 3rd video following progress of all the pots of beautiful plants. I vote Aaron as the winner. Sorry, Laura.
This is a surprise for me. almost every flower pot of Aaron's turned out pretty gorgeous. In the beginning, I was thinking you will win hands down cos Aaron's pots were nothing much. haha.
Thanks so much for sharing.

I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 videos. Was super cool to see what they all did. Question - what do you recommend for the bugs and how often? And maybe try turning the pots a 1/4 turn once a week then they can get sun on all sides. Would maybe be more even. Thought it would be worth a try, right? Thanks again I learned a Ton!

wow - gorgeous pots - great to see Aaron get involved with plantings. hey - what happened to that yard? Is that a Soccer field? What did you plant to hide that view? I do not seem to see this view on your current videos. it would be lovely to see what you did to change the privacy factor on this.

Just a thought, would it be possible to put the containers on a rotating plate thingy (sorry not sure what's it call) next year so every now and then you can rotate the pot a bit, and all sides gets southern sun, so you could get more evenly distributed blooms all around the pot?

Late comment because Im watching these again to look for inspiration for my pots this year. Dahlias probably arent growing well in your pots because you regularly fertilize with liquid feed. Dahlias in general like very freely draining soil and not to be over fed. ;-)

I love seeing the containers from start to finish with check-ins along the way. It gives one a better idea of what to expect the plants to do over time. Thanks. I really loved this project. (I think Aaron won with the 2 plants in one pot)

I cant stand how leggy petunias get. I always cut mine back the day after the 4th of July. That way they get a fresh start with flowers and new growth. Yours look sick, Im sorry to say. They just dont look good
