Planting the North Side of Our Chicken Coop! Garden Answer Sylvia: I have the same issue on the north side of my house since the neighbor to the west of me cut down a tree. Their tree used to block the western sun in the late afternoon. Its like the sun sets in the northwest here in the Puget Sound area. Most of the shrubs and perennials on the northwest side of the house have been ok but the Fuscia basket has not been happy and had to be moved. The potted plants on the back deck have to be protected with a patio umbrella now. Ive since planted a tree on the west side of my property to make up for the one that was cut down but its going to be a few years before it will provide enough shade. Ill be really curious to see how your area evolves! Best of luck to you Laura, I really love all of your videos!

Hey Laura and Aaron! Watching this video on a break while Im in the middle of digging up clay near our house and adding some soil so we can actually plant things! We are planning on running drip to two 4x8 beds that are on the other side of this bed from our house so it was convenient to run the tubes from our house to the beds. My question is if 1/4 inch tubing will carry enough water to irrigate the beds? Im planning on putting 3 8 sections of soaker hose down them and will not need to run it a whole lot because we get a bit more rain. We will will probably only need to run them once every 2 or 3 days in the hottest part of summer. Thank you so much!

So helpful as the entry of our home faces north, yet gets strong sun in the evening, like this wall of the chicken coop. Been so challenging to find things to grow well there. We're in a very dry climate as well & at 7, 300' in Evergreen, CO. I'm now rocking the little bit if cement house foundation that shows & creating a bit of a raised bed with a short rock wall. Look forward especially to trying the Lime Time Coleus once it's done! Thank you!

Thank you Laura for teaching us about Proven Winners Superbells. I live in a very small town in Utah. With only one mom amd pops tiny garden center and Walmart one town away. My mom and pops stocked Superbells. and plant them for the city in hanging baskets just like you do in your town. I bought quite a few today I just love them. Thanks for showing us how great they are.

I recently read an article with a tip for the kneeler pads. They suggest you use two pads. You kneel on the first pad and place the second pad next to you in the direction you are moving/planting. Just keep rotating the pads around to the other side of your body so that you do not have to get up and down every time you need to slide/move over. Love your program!

Your voice still sounds a little scratchy. I hope your feeling okay, my allergies have been driving me crazy. Whenever you give is a short teaser video, I always go watch another previous video, sometimes I will watch it twice. I can't get enough. Do you want to come to Lawton Ok. And help me with my garden? It would be so fun!

We just got goofball size hail Thursday evening and server wins damage, lots of trees and limbs down as well as one billboard down. So yah, I feel your pain after seeing your damage. But we do live with this kind of weather around this time, even tornadoes. Anyway your project came out great I love the color contrast.

Looks great. I love the colors. Im so sorry about all the hail damage. I know you see it but all I see is jaw-dropping beautiful vistas in all directions. Thanks for all of the videos recently. I just hope I dont fall into a deep depression when the daily videos end!

Thanks for doing your planning out loud. Its so helpful to hear how you decided to do what youre doing. We learn so much from that process. You sounded a little hoarse. If youre not feeling poorly, it could be reflux from pregnancy? A not uncommon problem.

Looking forward to seeing the results! I have the same sun problem on my deck. Shade all day and then blasted with sun starting around 4 pm. Potted herbs and a few other things seem to handle it ok but they aren't as prolific as they would be normally.
