Would you consider covering the pots with clear foil for the pansy seeds to germinate? In my area we would starts seeds in June for pansy flowers from early September (going until end of spring, or sowing end of July or early October at the latest (but these flower only in spring. I like both pansies and violas, but I like it when the blue-yellow ones or simply yellow ones self-seed themselves, they can be so fragrant.

Dear Laura, I have recently ordered watermelon, cantaloupe and corn seed from a online seed company. My question is, WHEN marks the first day to start counting for Day to Maturity.
Is it when you sow the seed, or when the seed first emerges from the soil or maybe when it gets it's first permanent leaves. It just seems it took a lot longer for our first time ever watermelon to ripen last year. Oregon zone 7b

Laura! Love your show! Question: I'm overwintering potted bulbs (tulips, crocus, daffodils) in our garage, but unlike yours but mine are showing LOTS of growth. Its been unseasonably warm (we're in zone 7- NYC and my garage has been hovering around 55-60) should I move them outside? Or cover them? It's finally getting a bit cooler but at this rate my bulbs are going to only give my car a show!

Hello Laura, I love watching your videos and imagine how it would like in my garden. I saw you started some before and after videos. However, if you can edit/update same video with pictures in the screen after the results like bulbs or seeds. it will be amazing to see the results in same video as they come to life. You have amazing talent. OMG

I like planted coreopsis v. Mardi Gras two years ago and those things still prolifically reseed everywhere. I love in Houston, so I let the coreopsis seedlings survive in the fall to bloom mid Winter for me. I also do nasturtiums, pansies, marigolds, and salvia splendens. They'll bloom all winter long and give nice winter interest.

I planted pansy seeds in October hoping to have some flowers on Winter (live in Boise. They germinated, and grew to the size of clovers and then stopped. Do you think they are just in a dormancy stage and then will continue to grow closer to Spring? They are outside in a cold frame, they appear to be alive.

so your next video on pansies features pots you purchased. does that mean your seeds didn't germinate? Wanted to hear if anyone has a good experience planting seeds directly into pots. I just planted some and am germinating them indoors. Hoping to put them outside during an indian summer.

I would love to see a little more about starting seeds indoors with a grow light, like a time laps. maybe? or how you have done it in the past. I am going to get a grow light and just go for it but I really feel a bit nervous about doing it right. You inspire me!

I was looking for a while for an update on the pansies. These pots are at 30: 00 of the April tour and there are zero pansies. She said the winter was warm and it got hot in the cold frame and the bulbs were not performing but I didnt catch a mention of the pansies.

Love this idea! Since this is a repost from last January, would you be able to show us the results in the same video the spring-blooming pots? Although I seem to recall they didnt perform as well as youd hoped. Cats? But still a wonderful idea!
