The cake looks delish! Can't wait to try it. Can I give you 2 tips? when frosting the cake dip your knife/spatula into a tall glass/container of boiling hot water. Let the spatula get hot and then spread the frosting. This will make it much easier to spread and get a nice smooth finish to it. Also when piping the frosting you could add a little more confectionary sugar to make a stiffer frosting, this will cause the tips to stand up straight. Gotta go make one myself!

Hi Laura! I know youve been doing this for years. But a little tip from a biology student here! Instead of scissors, use a very sharp blade to re-cut your cut-flowers: D When using scissors, you are at high risk of crushing the vascular tracts in the stem, which is what takes up water: ) I would suggest using a wallpaper-knife instead, and cutting them on an 45 degree angle. Lots of love from a fellow garden lover from Norway!

Benjamin looks SO CUTE when he smiled while in the truck, I think he looks more like you Laura (& Samantha Grace looks exactly like Benjamin. Yet he might have Aaron's ears: D Jinx. you owe me a Coke (never heard counting to 10 before. Love these little family outings/clips. Thank you for sharing your family with us. I dont like overly sweet icing either, I looked at the recipe and I think the five cups of powdered sugar was way too much (again for my taste. I would suggest adding the sugar a 1/4 cup at a time until you get the sweetness level you prefer. Also add a couple of pinches of salt to balance the flavor.

I just made a lemon poppyseed cake! Must be the 'thing to do'! Just a tip for you. When putting the cream etc on the cake, have a jug of hot water and a tea towel handy. Dip the spatula into the hot water, wipe it with the tea towel, then spread the cream. the heat makes it spread easier. You can also dip the knife in the hot water to help cut the cake smoothly.

We would say 1, 2, 3 YOU OWE ME A COKE. not to 10 but yes there is counting. My 2 granddaughters do it all the time and I remember as a child too. sorry Erin. I am 60 years old, and it' has always been with counting. UNLESS you are from the south. LOL! Just a joke people.

gosh, I haven'r baked since my daughter was little! I used tto bake all the time when I had a kitchen aid and then since it broke I just stopped! I like the idea of growing lemons thugh as I love lemon curd on fresh bread, mmm

We say Pinch Poke, you Owe me a Coke in my family. and if you are feeling spry, you can actually pink or poke the person. LOL

After saying the same word simultaneously the first one to call JINX then says Coke (or whatever you like) then start counting to see how many of the Cokes they are going to owe you before they stop you.
