Maintaining Roses & Topiaries Planting a Flower Bed! Garden Answer Joan: Laura, That is a spectacular gazebo in structure but I know you've never loved it because of the orange stain. You are right it just is not cohesive with the rest of the structures on your property. When Aaron does drone footage of the entire property, the gazebo really stands out as not cohesive. Laura, paint that gazebo white without hesitation! It will make you so happy to see the transformation a coat of primer and a couple of coats of paint will make. Suddenly all you plants and flowers will shine as though newly planted and every time you look at the gazebo it will just make you happy. I think y'all will start spending a lot more time out there and it will be beautiful with all the Christmas lights! Love your family. Love from South Alabama near the beach.

Hi Laura: have you heard of Pearl Fryar of Bishopville, SC? He has taken the plants on his property and made some amazing topiaries. For a long time he did it all himself but he is older now and has help. Please go to pearlfryar. com and just look at the pictures. I know you have said you would love to come to the South, so if you ever get to SC, please try to go see the Pearl Fryar topiaries.

Those poor sunflowers. Thanks for making us look away I guess they're not transplantable at that stage? I'm glad you said what you did about the gazebo colour. I think it would be great in the ebony colour of your veg garden fence/arches. And I'm always a fan of as many purple plants as possible!

I sure appreciate and enjoy your sweet banter, Laura and Aaron. Thanks for teaching us how to prune rose bushes (and everything else you showed in this video. I may have pulled the sunflowers out too, but Im wondering - were the sunflowers too large to transplant in a more suitable area?

So beautiful. Thanks for explaining about color - my inability to jump out with some color needed that explanation! This season I have purchased Proven Winners colorful annuals and perennials to try to move out of my comfort zone and jazz things up a bit! Your videos prompted me.

Have you thought about a stepable groundcover with your stepping stones leading up to the teepee? I have used blue star creeper in both our last house in WA and this house in Texas and love it! I used mint in WA and think corsican mint would be amazing there!

Can't wait to see how Benjamin's teepee with the red noodle beans turn out! My mom and I grow similar ones every year, but they are green in color. I like eating them raw and cut up in a spicy Asian salad. Would love to see you make a cooking video with these!

I might have actually transplanted that sunflower with all the roots on it over by the bean teepee, then your son might have gotten to enjoy it too. I have transplanted huge tomato plants before and it worked. better than. sniffle, sniffle

I agree with Aaron. sorry Sunflower, you had to go. It looked like a weed to me when I first say it. I love watching you and your Aaron work together. Its beautiful to see he is supportive and enjoying gardening as a family.

On your gazebo, how about painting the bottom black and the rails and posts white. That way the white will not be too overpowering and draw your eye too much, and the black bottom will hide the large size of the gazebo.
