No way! 19: 20 Were all those circling roots left alone on the outer edge of planted root ball? Or some kind of fabric that looks like a basket of intertwined roots?
26: 07 Oh oh, no trunk flare in sight here. This tree's trunk arrived already to deep in root ball and required a root flare excavation before installation. Damn today's nurseries damn them all too hell!
Place your bets, I give these trees 15 years at best.

Bindweed is THE WORST!
Im part of a Colorado gardening page and very frequently we have new members post photos of bindweed asking what it is and if they should let it grow or try to get rid of it. The pages response is always overwhelmingly extolling sympathies for having bindweed, followed by jokes of having to burn down the whole yard.

Please please please give us your take on girdling roots and root washing. You have a lot of experience. Currently I have a tree that wiggles from side to side with the Ground soil under also, and I have another tree that when I removed the stakes it fell over. I live in Oakley, ca, zone 9. Bought our trees in 15 gallon containers.

A good way to plant trees and shrubs and assure strong plants by winter, dig hole deeper, add cow manure mixed with dry leaves. Put a healthy layer of soil between mixture and root ball. As the compost works, it creates heat, drawing roots towards it. By the time they get there, it has composted sufficiently as to not burn the roots.

Hi Laura just a question about your pear tree. I came to this video because I was researching the maples. I have Bradford pear trees that I thought were invasive to the US and have been thinking about taking them out and replacing with the Maple. You you find the need to take out your pear tree? Just curious.

Similar to your bindweed, I have honeyvine milkweed all in my hedges and everywhere across my yard. It is impossible to deal with. The foliage is actually super pretty, but it produces these freaky alien-like pods that are milky yucky and spread their seeds everywhere. Ugh I hate them!

Hi Aaron and Laura! Those trees will be so pretty where you planted them. Aaron was such a trooper about replanting the one tree, and Laura you handled it well, too! I'm glad the tree was easy for him to move. As always, it was great seeing Benjamin, too! Thank you for sharing!
