Eat, Drink & Be Merry! Garden Answer Emily: I have some succulents in our basement and Im concerned about my plants getting less light from our windows because of the change in season. I was looking at grow lights but not sure what is the best. I dont want to spend a lot of money but also dont want my plants to suffer! My 3 year old daughter Lupita and I love watching your videos. She loves seeing the cats and Benjamin

When you take apart, how do you separate the top dress from the soil? I prefer to reuse the top dressing. If stones are big enough I can pick out by hand. But if not, I use a spoon to skim off the top dressing but soil comes with. So the only thing Ive figured out is to pour through various meshes of strainers, depending on how big the stones are. Any other methods?

Hi Laura! That turned out really pretty and I like the top dressing of the black rock. I have trouble keeping succulents alive. I think it's because I don't have a bright enough window for them to be happy. Do you still have the succulent wall planter with the watering can the you had on the sun porch? It was so pretty! Thank you for sharing!

Great presents for sedentary residents, either older or staying in senior care facilities. Many senior communities love these plants, cause of low maintenance, and do not smell up the area, compared to many traditional flowers arrangements. Adding solar light fixture (99 Cents Store) can add nocturnal glow if place by sun filled window.

I love the arrangement and I think the black glass topping was right on key to set it off. I have been carrying a soft brush in my gardener's belt for years, not a lense brush but a lady's soft blusher brush. I use it for everything. Dusting succulents, getting rid of aphids, etc. one of my most useful tools!

I Absolutely Love the pot in a pot. I don't know why I have a fear of succulents. Maybe over watering. Do you ever use a water meter? If so what number would you water a succulent arrangement? You are a ray of sunshine to my day. Thank you so much for sharing your happiness and joy with us.

Great idea, very cute! Laura, can you make a cacti arrangement sometime please? If not, can you tell me if its ok to use them in arrangements with soil taken off and the root ball disturbed, are they forgiving to this type of rough treatment in the same way succulents are? Thanks x

This is unrelated to the video but I was wondering if anyone could tell me what Etsy shop Laura recieved the Santa Letter for Benjamin last year from? I've went back in her mail time videos and I haven't found it yet though I'd give the comment section a shot.

Try activated charcoal it's a nice black top dressing that isnt so glossy - also I've been watering my potted cactus with used coffee grounds and its turning into a real work of art with the black top and green paddles

Hey Laura, so if I accidentally touch the succulent and mess up the powdery coating, does it eventually heal itself and put a new coat on, or are you just stuck with finger prints on your plants?
