Using a Gem Box Inkberry Holly Instead of Boxwood in this Simple & Classic Spring Arrangement Donamtrx: Always lovely! I love these colors as well. I call it a grown up color pallet btw. I think u may have sold me on the gem box. last year it was the VERTIGO & I can't wait to finally get my hands on them & make them the centerpiece of my front bed! I wasn't clear how many of them u planted in your big round bed. it looks to be about the same size as mine. I've had it on my mind since last year & I want DRAMA. so how many did u use!

When you talked about the control of staying within a classic color palette I literally shouted Amen. You're so right, it is so easy to get caught up in all the spring color at the garden centers, but sometimes I feel like too much color can look tacky and overstimulating. I really appreciate the serenity and clean coolness of what you've done here. Well done!

We have had horrible issues with japanese beetles. How do you keep them at bay with all the japanese and non native plants you plant? I love the Gem Box. It looks great but I hesitate to plant them and attract beetles / grubs which in turn attract moles! I have been using Milky spore and it takes 2 to 3 years to help but. oh the moles!

I love my inkberry. This year will be it's 3rd year growing in a container outside my morning room. Such a pretty view! I was going to move it out of the container and into the yard, but it seems to be happy where it's growing (maybe this fall I'll move it. I'm in zone 7B, so it's come through our North Carolina winters nicely.

Ohh my coffee with Laura and such a peaceful arrangement. I really like the classic look of those plants and it gives the eye a resting spot while looking around. Thank you for this choice, I am going to see if I can find some containers that would work out on our playground to plant in as I think the children would love them.

Video idea for ya: show us what your garden view is from your sitting or popular areas of your homes windows. I have a newly built construction with a totally blank yard and I am drawing a blank for inspiration. I want to plan my landscape around what I can look out of my windows in my house and see.

My husband wont let me plant ivy anymore. In our old house it grew INTO our home through a small crack/hole in the wall. ( we lived in Marine Corps housing. ) but he sent me a photo once he moved our tv stand oh the ivy coming INSIDE the house. I love ivy tho! Lol. I wish I could use it.

Very pretty. Still snow flurries in our state! Too cold yet. But just can't wait. Frost wiped out my tulip tree night before last. It was beautiful. I hate that part of the seasons. Haven't been able to enjoy it the past 2 years. Sad. lol

do you put all soil in the pot? I have two large pots in front of house, I fill half of it with gravels, then soil for the top 1/3. Should I put all soil in the huge pot in order the little shrub can survive over winter? Thanks.
