Picking Out Bricks For the New Glass Greenhouse + Plant Shopping! Garden Answer Kim: Just recently found you. Having been Ill for many years my landscaping had begun to look like the land of desolation. My health is slowly returning and finding you has brought back a passion for living things I had all but forgotten. I feel quite emotional when I think back to a few months ago compared to how much has changed already in my garden all thanks to you. I'm pretty much starting over which is actually exilerating. I do have a question: I fell in love with the Tiger Eyes Cut Leaf Staghorn tree. Could it be happy for a few years at least in a container? If so what size container? I would of course eventually plant it but I have a spot that gets full sun that is on a concrete patio. I live in southern Utah which can get up to 110 degrees at times. Any advice would be most appreciated. Again I cannot over state the effect I feel your videos have had on my life. Although you didn't save my life, you and your amazing family have brought back something I thought I'd never feel again, a joy in the little things. Much love from Utah

Hi Laura and Aaron! It was fun looking at the brick with you. IMO, the Schoolhouse had the same color in as the Gazebo, that you didn't like. I liked the stone the best because I think it looks fancier, and to me the brick would distract from the beauty of the Hartley. If I had to pick a brick color of the ones you talked about, it would be the Carriage House, then the Peppermill (but it still has the color of the Gazebo in it. It will be interesting seeing what you decide to get. Far West Nursery looks like a really fun place to shop! You picked out some pretty things. Thank you so much for sharing!

I had so much fun watching this video. You walking into a garden center is like a kid walking into a toy store. Your excitment inspires me. I became interested in gardening a few years ago and watch you faithfully on my way to work in the morning. I have learned so much. This year Im trying to nail down my drip system and get it just right. Your videos have been so helpful. I love yours (and your moms) famous line when you are shopping. I should have that. lololol cracks me up. Thanks so much for all you do to educate us newbies.

Why not pick bricks that would match the color scheme of your fireplace? I think that would be awesome. Besides it would cosmetically work out well with the contrast.
I would like to thank all those whom wished me get well soon greetings. I would like to say God is Good and he has blessed me with a loving understanding family, friends and the Garden Answer Group. I would have thought interior decorating works for outside too: choose 3 or 4 colours from your house and surrounding garden for the Hartley greenhouse's brick works, which would tie your garden and buildings together. Especially since red isn't a colour you love! Your buildings and current bricks, road stones and cement features are such nice colours. Red bricks will look a little off. Of course, I will love whatever you guys do. I always do. Just thought I would add an idea: )

You should find out what the brick wall sample is kind of behind Aaron when you pan over to him at 6: 25-6: 28 to the right of what looks like a bathroom door and water fountain. Same red family, but looks like 'antique' or what I picture when you mention the Hartley. Like Aaron said- whatever you choose will be beautiful once it's out there!

I saw an alley made from Taxodium along a driveway in Switzerland which looked amazing.
In European landscape parks there is a classic combination of bald cypress (Taxodium distichum) with tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipifera) and ginkgo for fall color display from copper orange over golden yellow to bright yellow.

A natural pesticide that works great with most all bugs, especially with white flies, is garlic powder! Most bugs hate it! I had some on my pepper plants and beans, and as soon as I start sprinkling that, they go away instantly! Plus, its natural and all plants do fine with it.

I'm sooooo late to the party that a brick has likely been chosen now, but Laura could cut out a hartley from the brochure materials, and brick from the suppliers brochure materials, and physically hold them up against the landscape to see how she feels about it.

Love the Peppermill with grey grout! Would blend so nicely with your blue toned gravel and cool colors. I agree with others when they advise to look at the brick outside on houses if you can. Made a big difference when we were choosing ours!
