Planting a Whole Bunch of Lilies! (Asiatic, Oriental, Trumpet, Canna & Calla) Garden Answer VW: I have given up on Oriental lilies because they always gradually fade away in my garden, but I really love the vigorous orienpets that thrive without much work from me (I grow Elusive, Pretty Woman, Purple Prince, Big Brother, LeVern Friemann, Royal Sunset, Pink Snowflake. I've also been impressed with Asiatics like Red Velvet and Pink Flight. Very vigorous. I'm looking forward to seeing Eurydice, Iowa Rose, Forza Red and Purple Marble lilies blooming for the first time in my garden this year. They're such great focal flowers after the roses finish their first flush but before my dahlias really get going.

I bought 2 of the cleopatra canna I loved the 2 tone variegated leaves, they put off the most unique and beautiful flowers I have seen. When I purchased the plants they were in 8 inch nursery pots and ofcourse the label only said canna so had no idea what they were actually called until you just told me lol thank you! I will definitely buy more next year because next to the more basic cala I have planted these 2 stick out and catch your eye right off the bat with the beautiful leaves and striking flowers, now if I can just keep the grasshoppers from devouring them!

Hi Laura, thank you for making these videos and sharing so much knowledge Do you have an update video on those 5 canna rhizomes you planted in the pot? I'm about to plant canna rhizomes in pots instead because the ones I planted in ground did not survive. The leaves kept turning brown and they did not bloom my soil it's very sandy like. So not sure if that was the problem. Or maybe too much fertilizer when I planted them? I was trying to water them at least every 3 days because they were exposed to that afternoon brutal in Florida. Would appreciate any advices.

there are so many daylilies where i live, we've literally hacked off bits of the roots, shoved them in dirt, and they're already flowering this year, they're not a true lily but whatever they're beautiful to me, especially the tall orange ones. Also reminded by you planting bulbs how back soon after you planted the last of your dahlias i planted the dahlia i had stored. I'd been a bit down about it because it literally shriveled to the width of a pencil, but now it's five inches out of the ground and more full of leaves than i've ever seen it, so thank you

Laura, I know you are so busy, but have to ask, do you ever take pictures of other peoples spaces and give advice on what to plant? I have a small space under a pine tree that I have made the back into a shade garden with hostas, ferns and inspiration from you, hellebores. Now I have the front of the bed to plant and have too many ideas but want to get it right the first time. I totally understand if you dont have the time to do that kind of thing. Thank you, Laura and Aaron, for all the great inspirational videos!

Random topic suggestion but I'd love a little video on your strategies or favorite tools that help you to garden with the littles around. You have lovely help most days, but are there things you've found that allow you to keep them near and occupy them enough that you can get work done? Sun tent, the little coup, kid shovels and a bucket of dirt, etc. I think these strategies are just as important as your weeding and watering strategies!

We struggle with Red Lily beetle here. in Massachusetts. After struggling to battle them for over five years I finally ripped The lilies out. I figured it was not worth it. They are disgusting little buggers who mate incessantly and have larva that poop all over themselves. So if you cant stay on top of it your lilies are covered in nasty little globs of poop and they will eat your lilies to the ground. So gross!

This one is for you, your family, and your viewers: I had a big shock this morning. One of my black Big Berkey filters came off its plastic end cap and I am dismayed to see a ring of translucent caulking-type of glue was holding it in place! Does this make our filtered water toxic? Thought you and your viewers should be alerted so that you can check this out for yourselves!

ok so my husband and I watch you often in the evenings and are just amazed at your knowledge and ENERGY! My question is, what do you do with everything that you grow? Do you sell your flowers, and produce, can and freeze? I have to say we only watch you on the evenings and it helps us sleep better as we are exhausted just watching you. (-:

Novice question here - Are all flowers generally good for pollinators? How do you know which ones pollinators particularly enjoy? I'm always thoroughly impressed by the amount of knowledge you have on each plant, Laura. Your enthusiasm for your garden is palpable. You do such a great job and I look forward to each video!
