Organizing Around the Greenhouse & Prepping Potted Plants for Winter!
video description
I seem to have things (plants) I don't get to and it helps me to see how long you are able to successfully hold on to things. I fail miserably, but I was never sure if I was trying to do things that were never going to work or if I wasn't doing it right. Over the last couple of years it has become obvious. I wasn't doing it right (or 'enough'. This helps me to be more motivated to take care of things until I can get them planted. They can hang in there if I just give them the right attention.
Loved this video!

Wowza! You are impressive and inspiring with what you get accomplished in one task Laura. That was a serious organizing push! Not sure how long it took but you look like you could do it all over again no problem. And you are probably on to the next one for the day. What kind of coffee do you drink because I am changing my brand! I felt accomplished just watching you! Ever consider doing a one day planting push of some of those plants with the help you have used with the bulbs? Seems like you would be a head of the game some when spring comes around? Just wondered.

Hey I Love your videos. I live in michigan and I purchased 6 box woods and have not planted them yet. I planned to place them in front of my hydrangeas but I needed to move the hydrangeas back in the flower bed first then plant the boxwoods. Do you think it is too late in the season to complete this move? If so, how and where should I store the boxwoods over the winter? How early should I plant them? How much distance should I have between the boxwoods and the hydrangeas? Thank you in advance for any help you can give.

Be careful with that St Johns wort! Omg that stuff can be VERY invasive. We bought a house 3 years ago where someone previously planted it out front and have been trying to get rid of it ever since. It covers a huge area in the front yard and small hillside. Sends out rhizomes and it comes up probably 8 feet into our lawn. Its resistant to every weed killer weve tried.
We live near Seattle and also deal with invasive ivy and of course blackberries. But in our experience the St. Johns wort is the worst of them!

Thanks for sharing Laura. I loved seeing what you plan to leave out during the winter with some really great tips on that. Do you guys ever spray the Dead Bug Brew on plants you bring in? I know you mentioned not seeing any pests, but I was thinking about preventative maintenance and that aphids will live in the soil, which I also usually spray, I'm not sure spraying the surface helps though. Just curious. thanks guys! I'm exciting to see the things you will start up in the greenhouse. Fun Fun!

Looks great Laura! Nice to see things getting buttoned up after a very busy season. Thank goodness for winter, I NEED the break from a very busy summer. Always love to see what you have left over in the fall from your projects. I would love to have ALL those plants leftover but I would have to plant them. I live in zone 3(-40 - -45C, I have planted a few in the pots in the ground in the past and they have survived. No watering needed as they were covered with LOTS of snow.

Interesting. I live in the Great Lake Region, we are Zone 6b We get lots of snow and temps fluctuate from 0-20 in winter, root rot becomes a big worry with leaving potted plants outside. The snow on top of the pot melts on sunny days, makes its way to the bottom and freezes so additional water cant escape. I have found that tipping the pots on there side, like a 45 degree angle allow excess water to drain out better. Any other suggestions?

Did you ever tell us what you thought of how the flowerpots by the cold frame (turned greenhouse) turned out? Aaron thought they should be planted with just one plant per pot. How long did it take to fill the pots to your liking? What are your thoughts about the process of them growing? Were you happy with the results?
I loved this video! But then, I don't think I have ever watched one of your videos that I didn't love.

So glad you did this, I am planning on wintering over a bunch of plants pot to pot that I haven't gotten around to planting, and was so worried about if I should or not. Realizing it is a risk, but I haven't had a chance to plant them. I'm in zone 7 and thought I could double pot and wrap the pots in some burlap that I have

I live in zone 6, can't remember a or b. I have 5 Bobo hydrangeas that I have yet to get into the ground. I do not have a cold frame. I do have a covered carport that gets evening sun. Should I still try and get them in the ground, or should I think about overwintering them in their cans? Any help would be appreciated.
