Planting Up All the Pots in Front of the Greenhouse! Garden Answer Sandy: Hi Laura! It was sad seeing the pretty annuals go, but like you said, up close they weren't as pretty, and the frost would be taking them all soon. I did really like the one plant per pot. Good job Aaron for suggesting it, and Laura for actually doing it. LOL! For me, I like the pots with just one plant in them, the heuchera, boxwood, carex and snapdragons, but see why you would need to add more of the other plants together because of their size. I think the St. John's Wort/hypericum would be pretty by itself, too, top dressed with pine cones. Is the German Wax Ivy one that gets spider mites, too? I love ivy, but quit buying it years ago because, even if treated immediately, they still got spider mites. It was sweet of him to bring you a plant. Thank you so much for sharing!

After watching this video it has given me inspiration to plant up some pots for fall and winter interest in my garden! I think they turned out beautiful, and I loved how little Benjamin was trying to add to the plants that you were potting up! He is so adorable and I see a big helper in your future, even more so as he gets older! He is so precious and sweet, and I have to add the best big brother to Samantha Grace! Keep on doing what youve been doing because your children are adorable! Now on to getting plants for my containers!

100% can't believe you didn't trim back the petunias mid summer.
This looks so much better. I was excited for Aaron's project. but it was sorta boring after they hit full size. they sort of took over the pots and you couldn't really see those gorgeous cement pots. so B+ on the one pot project. maybe try it elsewhere in less decorative pots next year

Im sure youve talked about this before but how often do you spray for bud worms? And what do you use? Im in Phoenix, our petunia season begins the end of September and some of my petunias are full of holes and nibbled up. Never had this happen before. Interestingly, my most vigorous plants that I planted at end of sept show very little damage.

From Santa Fe, New Mexico. Hello, Laura in Oregon! You've given me so much inspiration n motivation over this past summer and now into fall. I only wish I could build my landscape on my 2. 5 acres like you and Aaron. I find myself making lists of what I want watching you. I can't wait for Spring! Thank you!

Love, love, love the kale/cabbage and heucheras. I found fantastic clearance heucheras this fall but zip for ornamental kale/cabbages at any price so I'll be growing them from seed this next spring. The fed ex man just delivered the mini greenhouse off my Christmas wish list so the hubby came through hurray!

Love this video so much, watched it over and over. You have inspired me to plant two of my own winter containers, I have used stunning purple Heuchera, ornamental Kale, cyclamen and miniature pine trees. I have them sitting on my decking with what's left of the kids pumpkins and they look stunning.

I'm so glad you guys tried the one plant per pot project. Especially for many of us that are on a tight budget! I loved seeing the little updates all season to show what worked (I also get windstorms) so thank you Aaron for convincing Laura to try this idea out! Was fun to watch it play out!

Its always so nice to get fresh plants in, even just for a little bit! I was wondering though, where are you going to spread your excess soil now that you have grass sown on the new property? If I remember correctly, thats why you said you used to spread all of that soil previously.
