Planting a Bunch of Beautiful Daffodils! Garden Answer Mary: Living in Arizona high dessert, can a Kalanchoe succulent survive outdoor ground planting? We did not get any significant ground snow for the past 5 years. Our elevation is approximately 4500 feet. The mountain range in our area (Huachuca Mountains) does get some snow on the peaks, but for the last 5 years, if any falls on the ground here, it melts by 10 a. m. I have several of these plants in pots currently and wonder if I should move them into a protected space for the winter. I just don't know what low temperatures they can survive in. Your south garden area is looking amazing and your level of expansion in plantings, trees, grass etc. is progressing at a wonderful pace. The bulbs planted recently should provide an wonderful palette of color for you next Spring.

Hi Laura! Those will be beautiful next year, too. What a show you're going to have! I'm looking forward to seeing all of the bulbs in bloom. I like the way you grouped them vs. the way you planted the other bulbs. The differences in the two areas will be striking! The shed is coming along nicely. I love the heat from wood stoves, so I agree a very small one in the shed would be nice to have if you need a little extra warmth. Thank you so much for sharing!

I've had problems with the Narcissus Bulb Fly the last couple of years I'm in Central Oregon It lays it's eggs on the daffodil leaves, they hatch and the grub crawls down into the bulb, then eats and destroys it. Daffodils were always my Everlasting-Deer-Proof-Go-To but my daffodils are deceasing and don't naturalize any more. Do you have an answer for the Narcissus Bulb Fly?

I think next spring its going to look beautiful. Im excited about the potting shed and love that you put big windows in it. I think you said it was going to have a chandelier in it. Thats good, because wouldnt it be nice to have a mini fridge with refreshments and a comfy chair to sit in to take a break from all your garden work. I love it.

I really enjoy watching your videos, I started watching you when you were living in the townhouse. I learn so much from watching you work in your gardens. Just wondering why you didnt separate the small bulbs that were growing on the main bulb? Is it best to leave them on the main bulb the first year or can you go ahead and separate them?

Do you notice that you speak VERY FAST. You run your sentences with high speed.
Aaron does not speak as fast as you; neither is your mother.
It reminds me of those conducting auctions.
I get dizzy listening to you.
I acknowledge though that you are hardworking.
Please do not expect that all comments will be positive.

Oh Laura. Just cant wait to see how it all turns out. Man things are looking really nice now with all those fall colors in the south gardens. Really coming along. And you almost got the pronunciation of Bella Estrella. Think of Bella as you do estrella. In Spanish two ls together is pronounced ya. Beya estreya. Beautiful star.

Such beautiful varieties! Total daffodil addict here and I would totally order some Bella Estrella if I didn't have 60kg of daffy bulbs waiting to be planted. Along with 500 mini daffs.
Little voice in the back of my head is saying you can order some as soon as you've finished planting the 60kg. Man. I need help.

You might check out Alpine Fireplaces here in Lehi, Utah, for your shed Love mine I am trying a drift of tulip, daffodil and narcissus bulbs in a trench this year since I had to dig up old landscape fabric from a front flower bed. I only had to repair three sprinkler disasters. Gardening isn't for the faint of heart

Supposed to be in the fifties this weekend in upstate NY. Cant wait for the weekend. Thanks Laura for the inspiration to go beyond the bulbs from the big box store
