video description
Leucojum Gravetye Giant The 'Gentle Giant' known by other names > Summer Snowflake, Dewdrop & St. Agnes flower.
Leucojum comes from Greek, and means 'white violet. ' Gravetye refers to the 'Gravetye manor', the home of garden writer

Gravetye (5 July 1838 17 May 1935) was an Irish practical gardener and journalist whose ideas about wild gardening spurred the movement
that led to the popularizing of the 'English cottage garden', Honest Simplicity and vernacular style of the British 'Arts and Crafts' movement.
Robinson is credited as an early practitioner of the wild garden, who vanquished the high Victorian pattern garden of bedding schemes.
Robinson's new approach to gardening gained popularity through his magazines and several booksparticularly

This question doesnt have anything to do with bulb planting, but Im concerned because I had an arborist come to my house to take a look at some of my trees and he told me that container grown trees should be outlawed and are crap. He said the roots will grow in circles like the container and eventually fall and this kills so many people a year. Im worried because I have planted container grown trees I have bought from nurseries. I work so hard in my gardens but feel like all I do is make mistakes. What is your opinion on container grown trees.

Am I the only one whose jealous of no rocks, roots or compacted soil?
I can't make a hole like she does. Touch, spin and go to the desired depth.
I touch the dirt and slowly spin with a 5 Power planter auger to not get stuck on a rock or root and burn out the drill and pull up. I cut roots and pull out rocks and then start again.
Must admit that it was smoking a bit. I don't think it's coming off the chuck anytime soon either!
But I love the augers they recommended last year, I use it for everything.
I don't dig I drill!

I'm really going to show my gardening ignorance here, but I'd like to know if you plant other things on or around where the bulbs are planted. Will any new plantings disturb the bulbs? How do you avoid doing that? Do you have a chart of where your bulbs are planted? Since you plant so many it would be difficult to remember where they all are. I've never planted bulbs but would love to try. I have the perfect spot for a nice drift.

Cant wait to see all these flowers in their glory. In future years will you be able to add more bulbs to these areas? Or will you risk digging into too many bulbs and stick to annuals? Also, could you please make a note to show your spring/summer fertilizing plan once they come up? Thanks very much for showing the entire planting process (us newbies really appreciate all the little details.

I found pictures of snowflakes accidentally early this year and instantly wanted them. This year isn't the year. My clay soil is so compacted. The neighborhood is only a few years old so I haven't worked the ground long. It's taking too long to plant bulbs. This year I only got a few varieties. Hopefully over the years I will accumulate snowflakes. I did get some snowdrops though.

My daughter, cousins and I planted 3800 tulips, daffodils, and crocus this year mostly around our town.
Amsterdam, NY is the sister city of Amsterdam, Netherlands and hasn't embraced its heritage enough, so we decided to plant 3000 yellow, purple, and red tulips around the Welcome signs to the city, fire hydrants, stop signs and other noticeable areas around the city.

I was wondering why you won't go ahead and plant the roses and trees that you have behind your barn/greenhouse? I think your property is looking absolutely beautiful. Could you please tell me again what products and size your raspberry and blackberry area and trellis are. I want to do the same in my yard. Thank you so much for sharing and taking us with you.

I've done over a thousand tulips the last two days. Without an auger I also planted the Menton and Gamay this year, plus the French blend and many more! . I have fourteen hundred tulips I need to plant tomorrow and three hundred dahlias to dig on Thursday. That's what happens when you go on vacation for a week. They don't plant themselves!
