Planting Roses & A Peony (Better Late Than Never! Garden Answer Liz's: You make me want to grow roses so badly! I've had terrible luck with the three roses I've tried in the past, only one actually survived our winter to make it to its second year (of course it was one I didn't absolutely love, after watching your rose videos I am getting braver and would like to try again! But. Japanese Beetles love roses. and we have lots of those: (
If I get a rose, I'm going to have to net it during Beetle season. a bit over a month here, July 4th- August something. I don't like that idea, but I might do it, I would like to grow some things that I know the beetles love, so, our yard might be full of bug netting next year!

Laura, you are the cutest, sweetest thing! You make me feel so much better about all the things I buy to plant, then run out of time. Gives me hope. QUESTION. Do you know how to get rid of Thrips? My Mum is English, had TONS of roses, but the last couple of years she's been fighting thrips. She's tried almost everything, from organic, to synthetic, Need Oil, even systemics. Any ideas? Anyway, love your garden, and you precious little family. You are an inspiration to A LOT of people in this world. Bringing some brightness to all the negativity in the world right now. Hugs to you and yours

Looking back on your video about the Felco clippers, my son in law is a rep for the Felco's here in Cape Town and he is getting me
one I am a keen gardener and seeing you with a pair in your bag in the kitchen in the plant room and one is going into the Harley
what more proof do I need that it is your favourite clippers to use in your garden.
Thanks for all the info. we are going into summer here in South Africa and now is the time to trim down
Osteospermum and Felicia are to keep them looking at their best in the growing and budding time.

Why is it your roses grow hips and mine don't? Like the hawthorn in your recent 'berries' video. I have the same and no hips. I live in the south west of Ireland and can grow everything you can grow that is why I have been following with so many years but that confuses me? When you talked recently about a mild fall, I am saying the same thing. we have had an unusually mild autumn where I have roses blooming and perennial verbena in full bloom so late in the year which never happens. Just curious is there a reason!

My KissMeKate climbing rose is about to flower for the first time! I'm excited! (Spring here in Australia)
Sadly, my redbud Forest Pansy looks like it might have Verticillium wilt, and I am quite devastated! It didn't flower very well this season, but I thought it might be having an off year. The leaves were surprisingly slow coming in and are looking all wrinkled and SAD! It has been a BEAUTIFUL potential tree (it's only about 10ft tall and wide) in my garden for almost 10yrs.

I have been watching your videos since last few months now and LOVE the tips and guidance in each video. Thank you for sharing your beautiful garden with us! I moved to NC from MA and looking forward to utilize your tips in the years to follow now that I have warmer weather. One question I have is where do you get your plants from? I never find those varieties in The Home Depot or Lowes stores, for example the beautiful Huchera varieties you have shown us.

Hi Laura! I love watching your videos. I learn something new with every one. I noticed in this video all the drip tubing you have around your trees. I'm struggling to know how much to water my newly planted trees. I don't fully understand how to measure 1 inch of water per week. Help! In the meantime, thank you for always motivating me to keep trying new things in my garden!

Do you think the debate on burying graft union has to do w growing zone/amount of water or humidity? I ask because in PDX area we would slope away and always be careful not to have anything around the bush or tree including mulch. Now that I'm in az, we put as much mulch around as possible and I slope all the water in towards it.

I noticed that you planted the climbing rose on a fence, but you mention that it reaches 10 ft. Height. Is that the ideal planting medium for this type of climber since it wants to get so tall and the fence is pretty short in comparison? Or does it really matter so long as it is trained to climb on its structure? Thank you!

Glad I am not the only one planting roses and shrubs like now. Were in zone 5b last year Abs then this year we jumped up into Zone 6a? Lol No complaint here as this is the BEST fall ever! Not to mention I still want to get more planting done.
And oh I need that 9 big auger! Anyone know where I can order one?
