Planting a Whole Bunch of Flower Seeds for the Cut Garden! Garden Answer Heidi: Gorgeous plants! I love your videos and am getting excited to start planting! I live in a zone 6 and the danger of frost doesn't end until the first week of June, which is so hard! I usually end up planting out in the garden around mid May depending on the weather. But we typically have a late May snow before winter decides to finally give up. It's REALLY hard to wait to start planting. I have never soaked seeds before, what kind of seeds should you soak before planting? Are there seeds you shouldn't soak? And I read online that if the seeds float they probably won't germinate, is that true? Thank you for your wonderful, inspiring videos! They always get me motivated! I have learned SO much from you. :)

I've waited three seasons to be able to sow seeds. I bought the three shelf lighting units and many seeds each year but illness and time needed to recover from surgeries kept me from actually realizing this dream. But now I'm actually doing it and have trays started. I've selected perennials and annuals many of which are the ones that you have tried. Your advice and recommendations have been super helpful. I'm doing outdoor sowing as well. I'm so freaking happy about this LOL. The journey was difficult but I've learned so much. Isn't it funny how we can have so much joy over tiny seeds?

I really like the Flamingo Celosia from Botanical Interests. Very pretty pink ombre color and also a nice dried flower later. I'm jealous of your Delphinium seedlings. I have struggled with getting them to come up from seed. I've bought them from the garden center to only have them last a year or two. We are on the edge of their preferred planting zone, but I keep trying because they are such a statement in a flower garden.

I loved learning about all the varieties of seeds you're starting! You inspired me to buy some of the same seeds! Can't wait. I have a question, are you still using the self watering reservoirs? The GrowEase seed starter kits? I ask because I am using them but wonder if the seeds need a drying out period in between waterings. Thanks Laura again for all the inspiration you give us!

First, thank you so much for all your great info and help and your wonderful, positive attitude comes shining through. I wanted to ask if you are planting dahlias from seed this year? I saw your video from last year, but never could find out how that turned out for you. Did they produce for you? Will you be seeding them again or will you only use tubers? Thank you so much!

Hey Laura, this is off topic, but, I have heard you say that you snag your clothes on the hardware cloth on your benches. There is a solution. My husband was a cabinet maker and for this he would of used a small piece of wood like 12 long x 1 wide x 1/4 thick, along the edge where the edge of hardware cloth is. Now the edge that is snagging your clothes is covered.

A lot of these seeds are cold hardy and could be planted soon. They actually prefer it even in your zone. I highly suggest you read the book Cool Flowers from Lisa Mason Ziegler. You will get much earlier flowers which I know makes us all happy. It also helps spread out the seed starting season and gives you a reason to get your hands on the dirt earlier.

Love your videos. Just wondering if it would be possible to take slightly longer views on the seed packages and plant labels. I like to screenshot them for reference and if doesnt stay still long enough its hard to catch it. I am really looking forward to see your gardens this year. Now that you have all the bones its time for the best part!

Super informative as always. Do you plant much in the way of climbing flowers for a trellis? If you do I would love to see a video on this. I am looking to plant something for a trellis entrance to my garden (maybe in a cattle label. I thought about climbing roses to also harvest the rose hips but I am in 3b zone in northern Ontario.

Another adventure in planting such beauties & remain in awe to hear you pronounce each of them. I can say Chocolate Flower! I will be looking forward to their growth inside vs out. Love seeing the pictures of each one you planted. TU!
Oh, anything peeking out from all the bulbs planted? The excitement grows!
