Planting Window Boxes for Spring! Garden Answer beck: okay. when I started container gardening everything said to dump your old soil and i did for years for clients who could afford new bags of potting soil every year But at my house I had to start digging out some and them amending what was left with some new soil You seem to do that too. I think when I was learning that was something that totally confused me What do you think? PS I always pack my plants in like you!

Hi there, Im living in the hotest state in Australia, temperatures reaching 48c we also get the hot dry winds. But lately the weather is changing we now get a lot of humid days. Love watching your show, gives me so much enjoyment, and now Im outside trying some of your flowering plants. Im in my 70s and like you I go out shopping with my daughter, she is into the herbs. Children are so cute.

Such sweet window boxes. To make you feel better, just took some outside Christmas decorations down this week too. And you made me feel better about not getting stuff put away all the time! As usual you had me thinking about my garden and what I could do in it specifically I have a taller flower pot that Ive tried different center bushes in. A boxwood topiary is now what Id like!

I was wondering how your spring bulbs that you planted in pots are doing? This is the 1st year trying bulbs in pots, zone 6b (MA, they are growing like crazy. I moved them out of the garage, but Im unsure if they can stay out at night with temps in the mid 20s. Thanks for inspiring me to try new garden adventures!

Hey fellow gardeners! I know you get a lot of compliments laura. But you deserve them! You have excellent stage presence, very good at sharing information, and a beautiful smile. Also cats, and adorable children! Love the flowers we get to see, even in the winter! God give you a triple blessing!

I'm secretly hoping that you make a little video with your Mom during her visit. In any case, your planters turned out beautifully, I love them. Makes me want to break out my planters that I retired several years ago. I forwarn you, if you take yours out, you'll miss them.

Can bulbs like daffodils and hyacinths be put in window boxes in the fall and left to overwinter so that they grow and bloom in the spring? Or will they not be insulated well enough? I'm in either a Zone 5b or a 6a (I'm right on the line between them according to the map.

Laura my dear, you have corrupted us all. Now when I go to a garden center or even when watching a movie, I can't help but look at the plants and start naming the plants in my head or even at times out loud. I suppose there could be worse things to be addicted to!

Love the window boxes as usual! Gotta get mine done! They still have my Christmas look (red Cyclomen + Dusty Miller. Can't decide what I want to do this year! Really drawn to SunPatiens this year for some reason, so thinking that may be my anchor. but who knows!

You can buy pillow covers on Amazon. I found some beautiful birds. Its just easier to swap out the covers. They store easier and in much less space. Just folded in a drawer rather than taking up a shelf in a closet.
