I am definitely going to implement the assembly line planting. It took me 3 hours to plant 30 plants. Granted I have clay soil so half the time was spent breaking up the clumps in order to back fill. I did use the power planter about halfway thru but I seemed to lose the back fill with that, I guess it got flung. The tall power planter would likely prevent my back getting so sore. Thanks for the inspiration!

I do so envy how easy it is to dig in your garden. Unfortunately for me, the original owners of my house used rocks for mulch 20+ years ago. Now, it is a nightmare to dig holes because the rock has settled down several inches in the ground and there is no way to get them all out without an excavator and fresh dirt which is way, way out of my budget. I call the people names every time my shovel hits rick.

I watched one of your videos when you mentioned you don't love reds but gravitate to pinks and purples. If you haven't watched it, check out the latest video from Claus Dalby's garden in Denmark as it's an exemplary model garden rooms that often feature those colors. He's a fairly famous gardener in Denmark, but maybe he isn't as well known in the U. S.

My husband and I have 2 Bonanza Gold Barberry bushes we love them so the color slow growing full sun. We have looked for these to get 5 more and can not find them. Can you give me some information on when they appear in the nurserys and where I should start looking for them. We have been looking for two years and we bought the originals from Lowes

Hi there Laura. I have an off topic (from today's post, which was awesome as usual) question.
I ordered and planted Ranuculus bulbs months ago, and they were up and looking gorgeous. Well, in my walkabout this morning, I saw that something had eaten 10 of them down to the soil level. Should I dig them up and keep until next year? So bummed.

Hope you have a fun filled and relaxing day - you are a wonderful Mom. Can't wait to see what looks like will be a GIANT tree going in by the Hartley.

GardenAnswer I just watched your Zinnia video for the fourth time - and now I am planting mine: ) For your 100 degree climate, how long are you running your drip line? Just curious since we are VERY similar in climate and soil type. I have the 1 GPH drip line but I am worried about not running it long enough.

The west garden is so lovely and seems to have filled its brief for shade, windbreak and screening quickly. What about a horse and a pony in a sectioned off part of the neighbour's paddock. Small stables, then employ a local part time as a groom? Always passing down your talents and loves - music, nature and animals.

I have to smile every time you refer to your property as a yard! In the UK I think originally a yard was a very small area behind a terraced house with an outside toilet! and dustbins etc. Now these properties call them courtyards. Your land would be referred to as a large property or estate in the UK.
