Planting Large Full Sun Containers! Garden Answer handmade: Hey, Laura! A few thoughts(1) the shorter videos are GREAT! While the kids and I enjoy all of your videos, having a 30-45 minute stretch of time to watch a video in full can sometimes be tricky (we sometimes have to watch in parts. But I can fit in a 10-15 minute video easilyand at a couple of different times. (2) Those huge black containers are so fabulous out there! I think the color is great. Could you opt for a dark textured stone spray paint that may mask the hard water stain? A black, charcoal, white speckled? Or even a concrete look to match your unique stone planters? Orcould they be coated with wax or polymer to prevent the hard water? (3) The cut flower shed is looking wonderful! I cannot wait to watch you make arrangements in there soon.
Thanks for inspiring our family to love plants! We cannot wait until we have a garden like Lauras! (Only not so large )

Hi Laura and Aaron! Those containers turned out pretty. I hope, with all of the suggestions below, that you can find one that will work on the planters so you can leave them where they are. They really do make a statement there. The shed is coming along really good. I'm still sorry to see it painted white. I liked the light green. Since it's so far away from the other structures, it wouldn't matter if it was the same color. Just my opinion. As long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters. Thank you so much for sharing!

I planted what I call Lauras Salvia ( Playn the Blues) the last couple of years and yes stems broke in the wind! Sadly I couldnt get it this year but got Mystic Spires instead, so hope I like it as much. I put it inside an obelisk too to stabilize it. . I was wondering how spray painting those pots in a faux stone colour, or white to match the shed. the hard water wouldnt show as much. They are so perfect there it would be a shame to move them!

Laura, the shed is beautiful! If memory serves me correctly, it seems like you said you didn't necessarily plan to plant grass right up to it, but allow the area to develop naturally. Is that correct? In my minds eye, I can see the shed after the first rain, splashed horribly with dirt from the runoff of rain from the roof. I hope there are plans to mitigate that issue--perhaps gutter and a rain chain to add charm? It's a lovely space!

Hi. I have watched your videos since before you moved to this house. I do love the Play in the Blue salvia but would prefer a deep blue perennial salvia. Can you review the different types of salvias, their zones, growth habits and colors? Watching your videos gives me a little respite from the terrible and constant barrage of bad news of our days. Thank you.

I love your Videos! They have inspired me to continue to shape and shift my own gardens, try new plants and Ive learn so much every time!
What soluble fertilizer do you use for high performing annuals like super bells and supertunias. Also, what slow release fertilizer do you recommend for potted plants. Thanks you!

The planters really are beautiful there, I wonder if there isn't some sort of coating you can use to keep the hard water stains to a minimum. I was surprised to see unfilled space in those containers when you were done! Usually the soil is completely covered when you plant containers.

those planters are gorgeous! they are going to be so pretty out there. look at that space! you literally took nothing and are making it into such a beautiful area - your lucky neighbors! wow. loving it! that flower cottage as i call it is just the best! thanks for the video!

I know this sounds silly but what about clear shoe polish on the planter or a car paste wax, spread it, buff it and it repeals water. Cheap and quick. if it works great. if it doesn't your not out much.

Can you paint the containers a color that will allow the hard water stain to not show as much, they are such beautiful containers and great for that area. And what a waste to get something else.
