Flower Bed Maintenance & Tree Pruning! Garden Answer Donna: Yes, even over here on the East Coast, mid-Atlantic, closer to the mountains, we have been in the nineties, with humidity. It's rough, but I am out in the garden. Getting ready to go out, always wait for Laura's video, then out I go, and once sun is up from behind ridge, I follow the shade around the garden. Grateful for our mature trees, though, we also have lost some. But ever positive, I plant more. All have a great day!

Hi Laura. I have 8 Mandevilla Deplidenia that are growing beautiful. All leaves and vines deep green and healthy, but having one major issue. Almost all the flower buds rot and die either at the early stage or right before opening up. The ones where just about to open seem as if they are very wet on the inside and will get limp and mush out. The young ones will rot at the stem just behind the bloom and fall off. This has just started to happen the past 2-3 weeks. I have not changed anything. They only get rain water from barrels. I use Neptune fertilizer every 2-3 weeks. It is very deluted and typically apply after it rains so fertilizer not hitting dry roots. Very strange the flowers rotting, but plant extremely healthy in appearance. What do you think the problem is?

You re so right about the humidity. It s going to be 100 here today and right now our humidity is at 84%. it s a heat that there is no escape from. And our nights don t cool down much either. It s a struggle every year, but for the most part we re used to it. It s one of the prices we pay to have the long growing season and the summer rains that keep our plants watered.

Yes, the heat seems to be brutal this year. I've got some stressed shrubs and trees that I'm following the sun around with pato umbrellas! I'm glad you're saving your ash tree. It's beautiful. What are you spraying it with and when? I know it's hot to be out there working in the yard but it can be so rewarding. Ya'll stay cool and remember to hydrate.

I use straight up rubbing alcohol for spider mites. I cleaned each Individual leaf from my Mayer lemon. I only cleaned the leaves twice. I finally have new green growth and it looks ok. Next is my roses. I'm going to spray with a little water but that's it.

I'm so jealous of your lack of humidity! I wonder if I could tolerate heat better if the humidity was not oppressive? At this time of year garden maintenance is necessary but not always pleasant. (Garden zone 7 in NJ. humidity is 95% this AM)

Good morning / afternoon have a great day everyone! saludos from Spain I remember when you were filming by the chicken coup and there was a loud crack, ripping sound, and a huge branch had crashed down on to the fence. scary, indeed!

Good morning! You look a little hot. Can t imagine working in those temps. We have humidity here in Illinois but when the humidity is low and temps are high it s tolerable. Thank you for doing these videos in that heat.

Here in South West France we are 35 degrees C with 40% humidity. My gatden is fried. I am just watering the pots at the moment. I can't keep up. The wind is hot so it's burning everything.

I always have a sense of calm when you remove a spent plant from your overpacked garden. The negative space is beautiful especially when temps are high. Much better!

Morning Laura! Here in IL it is going to 89 but with 87% humidity. We are also getting a lot of rain for 3 days. sure wish we could share that rain with California!

Hey everyone. wouldnt it be insane if the person who planted the tree is still alive today? Watching Garden Answer. maybe have pictures of what it looked like.

Question what will the removal process for the maple by the Hartley look like? Cut down or will the team that put it in come and remove it with their big machine?

Have you thought about getting an electric lift you could use around your property for trimming trees, placing Christmas lights and general home maintenance?

If the spray is going to harm pollinators and that s why you wait until they ve gone to bed, wouldn t it harm the moths who come out to pollinate at night?
