Making a Wreath & Garland: Step By Step Instructions! I always make my own wreaths, mostly boxwood with green sometimes mixed in. Its my thing. This year I made a wreath on a 24 inch wreath form for our winners of our Holiday House raffle, was the biggest wreath I have ever made, and was STUNNING. I have been to wreath making classes and have given them for family and friends. Its such fun, and no matter the skill level there is always a masterpiece at the end. Happy family memories made that night!

Nothing beats fresh greens this time of year. Beautiful job! Have you considered growing Leland Cypress in the dirt lands for harvesting greens? They re so beautiful and would be another gorgeous texture in wreaths/garlands. Wondering if they d grow in your area since they re supposed to be hardy zone 6 to 10. they grow really fast and make great hedges. Maybe you re already growing some?

How charming! I have done the foraging for garland greens for decades and still I learned something new. I may not be as skilled as Laura so I tie a red string in the middle of the rope on which I construct the garland to be sure my end result is balanced. Now I need to keep this festive spirit with a fresh cup of hot chocolate. Cheers!

Greens at my garden center cost 12 for a bundle of 4 branches. Prices def have skyrocketed over the years and it s too expensive to buy for diy wreaths and for planters. It s cheaper to buy a misshapen Xmas tree and chop off the branches. And when I went to a tree farm to find one, they gave me all their discarded tree clippings!

I love working with fresh greens! I used to make center pieces for Christmas dinners, lunches and breakfast and it always got me in my feels! Great video what happened to your fence behind the barn? I remember you mentioning a new fence project, is that what is going on there? Sorry for being nosey Happy Holidays everyone

After seeing how much wonderful texture the pine cones added to the garland, the wreath looked like it needed some, too. Don't get me wrong, not being critical, I love Laura's artistic style. It's just an observation of the video showing the finished results of the garland and wreath.

Laura, I love your craft sessions. You are an inspiration and an energetic teacher. Thank you! I have a suggestion for next year. It might be fun to do a small projects with seniors in an HOA community or a senior center.

In 1988-1989, my landlord had a garden shop and I used to work off my rent by making hundreds of feet of garland/kissing balls by hand from tree clippings. I had a garland wire machine that cranked the wire.

Thank you. I would like to try one this year. I ve got to go foraging which will be fun. I live in the Texas Hillcountry with cedars and grasses. If I actually get it done I ll send a picture.

Oh how I wish I could make and use these projects. but unfortunately I'm allergic to them. I love to smell fresh pines etc but I just can't.

I used to take my greens cuttings and add them to the fireplace at night in small increments. It perfumed the whole house making for a magical atmosphere.
