How to grow Cosmos Cut Flower Garden
video description
I am South African and towards April Cosmos grows wild on the very poor soil next to the open roads out of cities.
I used to go and pick a big bunch and by the time I got home, they looked pretty sad, but after they got a good soak, I had a lovely bouquet for quite a few days.
But please only single flowers and from burgundy right through to white.
I'm sure nobody sewed those seeds and from childhood in the 50's Cosmos has always been there.
We did get seeds to buy and one year I had a sidewalk of autumn coloured cosmos, but have never seen them again.

Your flowers are so beautiful. I ordered a double click blend from botanical interests, and they're gorgeous! But they are not solid white, pink, and red.
Instead the pinks have stripes of darker pink and the whites are tipped in pink, one is a cool lilac. Some flowers have mixed petals; half petals like seashells (little cones) and half normal petals. I've gotten a beautiful white and pink fluffier bloom, but nothing quite as airy as on the package.
Gorgeous, not what was advertised, but more beautiful because of the surprising and random nature.

I have a question. I bought a pack of cosmos seeds and planted them on the 10th after 7 days every single seed germinated and they are all between 5-6 inches. They are also planted extremely close to each other in the pot. With some of the sprouts I have 4 in a 1 inch circle. Is it safe to leave them growing like that or do they need to be spread apart. Any advice would be wonderful. This is my first time attempting to grow something

I live my cosmos! This year, however, all I got was a very thick stem, no flowers. Should I cut the stems down? Currently they are about 3-4- tall. Their in full sun and have good drainage. I-m in zone 9b. Thankyou for any tips!

Since they do not like soil with organic matter much, should I use some organic fertilizer with a higher middle number or skip it all together?
