Some flowers tend to wilt immediately after you cut them. Here's two tricks to keep them upright and fully hydrated in the vase! Rachel: This is great! I have a question that maybe you can help me out with. I took great care this season to lay a hay bed (Ruth Stout method) - a very large bed. And on Mother's Day, I split half for gladiolus (which are over a foot tall and seem to be doing great) and the other half for my annual zinnia bed. Now, typically I have zinnia grow 5 ft. tall, and plentiful. I do not know if it was the hay method or what, but out of about 10x20 feet, I have ONE zinnia. I'm devestated. So half of my bed is empty! I was waiting until this week in hopes the zinnia might arrive, but surely they are not. Is there anything I can plant in that bed mid-summer that still might give me flowers in late July/August/September like the zinnia did? I'm in zone 5a, humid, full sun - upstate NY. I'm just so disappointed. I am trying to figure out what my fall bulbs will be, but I really wanted flowers all summer long, and not just one bed of glads! Ha ha. Any ideas?

Danielle, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for this video! You know all the rain we've had the last few days? Well, I had to cut flowers this morning for bouquets to take to our store because of all the rain, and it being Sunday. I almost always cut in the evening so that I have fresher, non wilting flowers. Well, some of my flowers flopped before I even got them inside today (they were in water outside as I was cutting): Dusty Miller, Strawflowers, Daucus Dara (Ammi) and Celosia flopped BADLY. I was SO disappointed! Then I remembered this video, and. IT WORKS! My flowers bounced back beautifully. even the Dusty Miller! THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH for saving my wilties! SO THANKFUL! Keep up the great content! --Sarah

Is there a list resource to know what needs to be treated. and also i was going to ask is there certain flowers that shouldnt be put in a vase together. I cant remember what has been struggling in the past but i know there are some flowers that will last over a week or maybe two. And some that seem to only last a few days. Im asduming its always a good idea to have some kind of preservative in the water. But would that not be ok for some plants. We need a book! Lol

Thanks for the pro tips - wonderful. You mentioned in another video that zinnias are a 'dirty' flower and to use bleach in the vase water. Would you please make a video to demonstrate that too? Thanks!

Wondering how many times we can do either method before tossing the flowers, but perhaps it depends on the flower in question.
