Today I'm planting 150 lily bulbs and weeding out the invasive Tiger Daylily. L DixieGirl9876: Your fur baby is adorable! Those orange faux lilies are all over here in the South too. Bradford pears are very evasion here as well. Talking about getting an evasive plant, I bought some lemon yellow lilies at a flea market a few years ago and they came with a fast growing spreading weed that I have been fighting ever since, trying to eradicate it from my garden with no luck, smothering the area didn't work, weed killer hasn't worked, I'm planning on digging out all the dirt in the affect area into black trash bags closing them tight and setting them in the hot sun all summer and see if that works. Otherwise I'll have to discard the soil. The lilies will be beautiful!

Boy you aren't kidding about orange daylily being invasive! My garden is overrun with them, my husband said he would help try to dig them up this season but I know it will take years to get rid of them. We also have Bishopweed that's taking over but will probably never be able to eradicate it from our property. Oh how I wish the former owners hadn't planted these garden thugs!

My entire garden is based on scent. My front flower bed alone this summer will consist of fragrant angelonia, nicotiana, butterfly bush, four o-clocks, mockorange, night scented stock, and oriental lilies. I honestly think I-m on a whole other wavelength compared to someone who would prefer asiatic over oriental lilies. However nothing wrong with preferences!

Stargazer lilies were my favorite flower until I discovered garden roses! Still love them though! You chose some beautiful varieties. I have been watching talks on soil health by Dr. Elaine Ingham in order to soften my clay soil that has terrible drainage. TLDR: add fungal dominated compost or fungal dominated compost tea.

Danielle you're going to have a beautiful display of lilies: ) They are one of my favourite bulbs (daffs are catching up) and I have spent quite a bit on all kinds of varieties. Mine are always being eaten by rabbits - do you suffer the same and if so, how do you deal with them?

I see the ditch lillies everywhere here in ohio. Even literally growing out in the countryside along the roads. They seem popular with people here. I don't have those anymore on my property as I'd rather have other varieties of plants instead.

I have never been a fan of any hemerocallis. I used to think their strappy foliage looked good around pond edges, but then I just grew to detest them. They fall into the same category as boxwoods and hydrangeas for me (excludes hydrangea quercifolia.

I get those pesky bright red bugs, too on my Asiatic or oriental lilies, they eat the whole thing and leave a black residue behind, if I don-t catch them early. I stopped buying them because of the bugs but I have a lot of daylilies instead

Just so everyone knows, Lilies are deadly to cats. If you have cats that like to chew on plants then Lilies can be a problem. (the two we adopted this year are terrible about chewing on plants, we have never had that issue before)

Wow you did so much! My legs are aching for you, all that kneeling and squatting!
I just got my lily bulbs in as well, but I'm going to wait at least a week to put them out. Thanks for showing us how it's done: )

That was a great day's planting, with time for belly rubs and face slobbers in the middle.
I would definitely be interested in seeing the results of your -doing it all wrong- Lily. I love a good experiment!

How do you keep your sweet Gracie out of your newly planted bulbs and flowers?
I enjoy your videos so much! I-ve actually started making little arrangements. I never would have attempted it before. Thank you!

Thanks for the informative lily video. I was wondering if you have to deal with the red lily beetle in your garden? It has kept me from planting as many lily bulbs as I would like in my own garden.

Lilies are so beautiful but they just don't flower that long. But I guess with the space you can extend the flowering appeal. Can not wait to see the lilies flowering in your garden.

Yay! Lillies! I'm definitely investing in some lillies next year! It just wasn't in the budget this year! AWWW! That's so sweet that you have your grandmas trowel!

Lily video please. And also a video on having consecutive/continuous flowers during the season - From early Spring to late Fall or ever further.

I was so happy to see a Lily video. I ordered some bulbs and it'll be my first year planting them, so I was glad for some good information. Thank you!
