wow. great info! My question is. last fall I bought 12 hyacinth bulbs. great bulbs, nice and big and healthy. I planted 6 in the ground and 6 in a large pot. The ones in the ground have come up and flowered, but the ones in the pot never came up. I'm in zone 7 so I'm giving the ones in the pot a little longer but I think maybe they rotted? I'll wait a little longer, but. any thoughts?

Great video Danielle! Thanks. I actually just cut some at the shorter length ones because I didn-t know this technique but I think I will add more to my stock for next years production since I didn-t know how these would do in my heavy clay soil and only bought a few. I am wondering how you travel with all your flowers, what the best ways are to transport them?

This is so awesome. Tomorrow i'm going to harvest my hyacinths and put them in a vase just like you have done. I planted mine with the intention to just leave them in the garden for the aroma, they are next to my patio. I had no idea how to cut them. But I'm bringing them in. Im in DE zone 7. Mines are a popping as I speak. ---

I wish I had seen this before I got that terrible itching. This is a whole new idea for me. I tried forcing hyacinth bulbs in water and it was a disaster. So this fall I will plant a patch to dig, cut and bring in! Thanks for posting this. Do you think the same method would work for daffodils?

Daniel love your videos and was amazed to see you work your magic on the hyacinth. But how much does each bulb cost and what are you able to sell the flower for. In new zealand bulbs are around 2dollars each. Would be hard pushed to get much more for the flower, thanks heaps noel

Danielle, I never knew about the itch that hyacinths can cause. I planted hyacinths from seed two years ago, and I had some amazing blooms last year. If they come back this spring, I will need to transplant them, so thanks for the tip about wearing gloves. --Margie

Great video! These are beautiful and good to know about the gloves! Does this itch also apply to grape hyacinths? I'm growing them for the first time this year. And do they multiply like daffodils? I -might- can spare a few if I know the rest will spread.

Perfect timing as my hyacinths are just coming up and I had no idea how to use them as a cut flower. I was even thinking maybe I'd wasted that money since I didn't know if they were worth selling. Definitely giving these tips a try now, thank you!

Ty for the terrific information! Any chance you would be willing to share how much you get for your bunches of 5 from the florist. I know alot about how much market bouquets are but not selling to florists. im thinking you may get less?

This is so good to learn. I don't grow Hyacynth but I do buy them potted in February to keep my spirits up as the temperatures drop. The blooms tend to last five days. I'll do this next year for the extra days of beauty and aroma.

Oh man did I learn my lesson on hyacinth a few months ago while forcing bulbs inside. Just touching the bulbs made my hands itch so bad. Wish I would have known about that! Thanks for the great tips today - - - -

I was just walking around my garden today wondering how to use hyacinths in bouquets. thank you so much for the info. Also, if you sold direct to consumer would you need to cover the bulbs to protect from that itch?

Thanks Danielle! I have only ever grown hyacinth for color in my beds or for really short arrangements. I might have to add a few varieties to my order this year for the purpose of just cutting them like this!

Your so lucky your flowers are already bloomed, its to cold here in upper ohio, it gets 80 than freezing. Tommoro is gonna be 72 than back to cold lol. My tulips dont know weather to grow or not lol

Interesting. What are the economics of this flower, if I may ask? If you pay $1 for the bulb, grow it out, then sell it for maybe $1. 50? If you left the bulb in the ground, would it reflower?

So I need you to carry this further. Are you sacrificing the bulb, do you plant the pieces? If this sacrifices the bulb, I think i will just leave in the ground to enjoy future years.

What are some tips you have for care at home?
Bought some that had the cuts you have made and wasn't sure how to keep them as they started bending same day when placed in water.
