On August 30th we had a storm come through my area of VA and it took out 24 power poles. We were out of power for only 14 hours (incredible how fast they replaced them. And although the power poles didn t fair well in that storm, my sunflowers were still standing tall.

I am the only one in my family who likes bittermelon. I ve never tried growing them. Found the seeds in green variety to try next year but your white variety might look prettier in the garden. Your apples look so beautiful picked and piled like that!

Green bitter melons are very popular in Japan.
Sprinkle salt on slices of bitter melon, massage it a little and leave it for 10 minutes, then it becomes less bitter.
I usually fry it with onion, pork, tofu and egg and it tastes really good.

You can always harvest bitter melon no matter what stages it is, if you wants to save some seeds wait until the color is a little red half way through. You can eat the coating of the seeds when it s ripe it taste sweets.

Food and flowers. I like it! That storm was bad! It came down in buckets here. Sorry about the damage. It still looks beautiful on camera!
