ing A visitor spends the night at my off grid log cabin and the following morning we head out on the lake in sub zero temperatures to fish for northern pike and panfish. We spend the second night in a heated canvas tent at the side of a frozen lake, which groans and creaks all night as the temperature stays below -18C, 0F. My good friend Terry guides us to a private lake that holds a good population of walleye and northern pike. We catch pike, perch and largemouth bass through the ice and we cook the pike on the small woodstove in the hot tent (winter camping tent. The tiny house is perfect for two or three people so we have room to spread out our fishing and camping gear. I sleep up in the loft and Joe sleeps on my dog Cali's bed on the main floor (which is actually a bed/bench alongside the dining table. Off grid cabin life at the wilderness homestead includes living off the land, so on the first night we cook black bear ribs over the open camp fire alongside grass fed beef steaks, fried potatoes and steamed spinach with garlic. The following morning we have farm fresh fried eggs with sourdough bread, toasted on the woodstove. It is with great respect that having a loving relationship to be able to grow old is a myth. I come from a family that has both male and female centenarians and none of them are married. In fact the youngest of my aunts is now ninety nine. My grandmothers lived to be 109, and 101. All of them live alone, and prefer it that way. There is a strong misnomer that love keeps one alive, it isn't true. I am very old now, and I like my independence, I don't have to answer to anyone except the higher power that made this universe. Love and old age is a romance dream--with all due respect to those who are married and to you. In truth, there are both--old married couples, and single old people. There is very strong evidence that moderate to light weight, eating lots of vegetables, vigorous exercise (like chopping wood/riding a bike, and maybe a little dark chocolate are good habits to develop and keep as we grow old, and is a better predictor of old age than marriage or a big family. Human love is so unpredictable. Even aging marriages are well known to dissolve. Wishing you the best as you too grow older. Cheers.

Deep relationships. Im 46 and there is nobody I trust more than my mom. I have found in so many past relationships with men that I am way too independent and stable with my own home and property for any man to have any desire to join me in my venture. Understandably, they always have their own aspirations for a home and property. I guess it is. what it is.

Hi that was a great video. I enjoyed the ice fishing and watching what you catch. The fish was awesome and looked delicious. You know what I miss Shawn is smelt. They sure were delicious fried up. I see them sometimes in the stores but very expensive. Great video! God Bless.

Canada is mainly vast tracts of wilderness. The conurbations of population are concentrated in the south, fairly close to the US border. Anyone who takes a look at an atlas will see that Canada dwarfs the USA in size, it is a huge country abundant with natural resources.

It's really nice how you can go out about anywhere and fish, camp and just enjoy the wilderness with no worries. Down here in the state we have to be so careful or we get on somebody else's land and they don't like it. Enjoy stay safe

Why not sit back at home in the heat with your feet up watching a ballgame while having a beer? I guess I got my fill of camping in the service, I enjoy the finer things in life now in comfort.
