diy Stay tuned to the end where I talk about self reliance, being prepared for smaller emergencies, like the attempted break-in last week, the forest fires burning west of the log cabin and the financial crisis that hit me in 2010. In this episode of the forest kitchen at the off grid log cabin, I install a cedar shingle roof on the outdoor cooking pavilion and build a gable end wall on the shelter covering the earthen oven. I also remove all of the sand and wood from inside the clay mud oven and light a candle to slowly start drying out the oven, a process that I will extend for about 2 weeks before firing it up to cook the first meal in it. You will notice another dog hanging around this week. My sister and her daughter visited and brought their golden retriever, Charlie. Cali, our dog, was not pleased for the first day, but eventually she welcome Charlie and they became friends before they departed. To see more of them, check out this video that I uploaded the day before this one

Id rather be watching this than paying bills so guess what I am doing. I am guessing he made the shingles because it would be against the lifestyle otherwise. But where did that aluminum ladder come from and the hoe as well as all those other tools and belt. I know he did not make those. Boy did I get turned around. Guess it is time to go see Sean. I cant figure out who to watch when.

Hey Shawn, I live in Bracebridge, Muskoka, Ontario and we got hit with the flooding this spring and were forced to evacuate our home. They shut our power off for about 2 weeks, I'm going to build something very similar to your outdoor kitchen in my back yard. If we had a wood-fired outdoor kitchen we could have stayed for the duration. Keep up the good work.

I don't know about anyone else but, I never get bored with your videos. I even watch them several times - helps me to chill and focus while I work. Keep it up!

We liked watching you shingle the outdoor oven roof, we were wondering why the roof over the oven has a twisted slant to it, is that for water runoff?
