A stupid mistake causes me a lot of pain as I build the 2nd course of logs on my off grid log cabin. Working in snow and ice pellets, I build a winter shelter beside the cabin so I can keep warm and dry while building the cabin over the next several cold months. Fon: Cali was there for you in a second just as your were there for her. Sounds like your a great pair for one another. looks as though you gave yourself a little whopper. Don't be too hard on yourself and forgive yourself, and go grab a decent pair of glasses as well. I'm glad to hear it wasn't a serious wound. That bear sure is enjoying mucin on those berries. lol

So much to say. SAFETY GOGGLES, Shawn. Glad you threw together that shelter. Quite level by eyeballing it. Speaking of eyeballs, hope you're okay. Cali knew---she's a comforter. I have been enjoying the sound of the stream ever since it began running high again. Every course of logs---every LOG---takes a lot out of a person. I had hoped, now and again, that the buddies would show up and you men make a weekend of it. One chunky bear, enjoying the last of a good thing before denning up. I have a berry patch rule here in WA State. If you are picking berries and a bear shows up, the berry patch now belongs TO THE BEAR. Good rule, I think. The tortuous trees in the high winds, the waves, the rocky canyon waterfalls. Thank you for this amazing footage.

Last episode a few of us already warned you about a few simple hazards and the chunk that jumped of against your eye proves an accident happens fast and in the smallest of corners.
Lets be gratefull it was only a chunk of wood and not an iron cable snapiing under the weight of one of the logs.
If you're willling to accept a small and easy advice: keep at hpone close at hand at all times so at least you can notify someone if something happens and you get stuck/trapped/. .

I've mentioned a few times that you should do things easier. I also know you like to show us green horns that you can do things like our fore fathers. Your not getting any younger. Use chain saws and your four wheeler to get the big rock that you carried out of the bottom land. I'm 87 and I might be dead before you get that new cabin up. Use your generator to supply electric!

I can tell you really liked the rocky mountains when you visited. I am so glad that you got to see them. I hope your eye is ok. You are doing a good job laying the logs. I hope all of the moss doesn't freeze on you. You will be so happy. you don't have to mud so much. Your little river valley. will never be the same. Thanks again for sharing with us your adventure.

Check your P. O. box in about two weeks (the fastest I could get it there. Sending a box of clear wrap-around protective glasses. Should tide you over until you find some that you really like. I'll have a good thought for you. Cali definitely earned her keep today. By the way, nice job on the shelter! Next year it can become guest quarters. Stay warm. Cheers.

Nice to see your workshop again, long time since last time! Those Larch trees have still all their needles and beutiful colors. An accident can happen in a split second, so please, use safety glasses. You do a lot of dangerous things, like that climbing! What a great and wild nature! Beutiful. What was the bear eating, did nt quit look like blueberry?

36: 25 you know Jimmy not to sound like your mother or something BUT! you are working ALL ALONE and IF something does go wrong, THEN WHAT! Doing all this chopping is absolutely dangerous for your eyes. SAFETY GLASSES OR GODLESS are a must if you care about your eyes! But then, you're a big boy, go ahead and roll the dice and take the chances.

I'm going to do your mother now, ok?
How many times have you been told to wear goggles or safety glasses? Aren't we always telling you to take safety precautions? You KNOW you're by yourself out there, right!
Lol. Mom's over.
Glad it was worse. Be careful. Might not be so lucky next time( maybe a little Mom in me too)

You only get two eyes. Consult an eye specialist. Consultations can be arranged via either your GP or your optician. Thow neither a GP or optician need to be yours specifically. Failing that, a trip to the ER is a good start and may even be a better (quicker) choice. Take care. Keep us posted and act quickly. No delays please: )
