Cabin Life is Aging Me! Building kitchen cabinets and countertops in my off grid log cabin Heather: Ohh! I love the hammered copper sink! Such a rustic look for your kitchen. the cabinets are a perfect match for it. The cabin is coming along beautifully, we are gaining a lot of inspiration from what you are doing with it, although can't imagine building our home alone the way you have. I'm sure you are incredibly proud of what you are accomplishing, and feel so blessed!
What size Berkey are you use? How often do you need to fill it when you and your wife are together at the cabin? Hubby and I would like to get one for when we get our place built, but are unsure which one will be sufficient.

Yeah, I worked with my hands all my life, was a sheet metal mechanic, then pipeliner and at age 55 I started breaking. I'm amazed at the work you have done especially with your age involved. I had the best, most advanced tools available and by 57 I was done. My body just couldn't take anymore. Now for the last 3 years I've been in and out of doctors just trying to get where I can go fishing and play with my pup Sasha. She has really been the one that has kept me going. I thank God for her every day. What you are doing is amazing and I can't help but be a little envious. Be good to yourself and take it easy, at least at times. Enjoy the fruits of your labor. It will all be done in time.

Shawn have followed you both both builds and as a retired builder using hand tools as well before power tools became the norm gives my age away you have done way more than mst in their life time all basically all by hand and by your self with that wonderful dog there for company, mate take a break sit back smell the roses and take a break go fishing and hunting and enjoy time with your wonderful mate, should not say this BUT i envy you your life style peace quite and no neighbors and a chance to fish /hunt and enjoy where you live, myself love hunting with Mls real stokers not the modern type with scopes, good luck mate take care and take a break

I'm thinking that when the build is done and Shawn can just enjoy the fruits of his labor that cabin life will not only quit aging him, but may slow down the aging process. Did he mention that. haven't wanted the vid yet, but about to. At the end or refurbishing my cabin and building a couple other small projects on the property, I realized that I needed to stop. That I didn't need to create more construction projects around the property that I wasn't sure would be used enough to justify the work/stress.

Everybody gets older as times goes by dear Shawn. I watched you as others did. and I could tell thaT you aRe very tired. so ok I think this cabin will be your jewelry with time. Something precious that will be your real home. the next thing for you to work on a little will be the inside like your Doing now to finish the cabin. Afterwards your garden which you xill always have things to do. we are still learning. Thks.

Love that old time spatula. There is a reason it has lasted a hundred years or so. because it was made right and built to last. Kitchen looking good. Will there be any provision for cooking in the summer, when the wood stove is not lit off? I still look forward to a nice, big outdoor kitchen like you had at the previous homestead. As always, merci beaucoups for all the enjoyable videos.

Time flies by Shawn as it do for us all especially with the hard work and dedication that you ve put in on this major cabin build. This is indeed a full blown house with all the amenities. And way bigger than your first home you ve built. I wouldn t blame you at all to incorporate power tools into this project to make it faster and easier. Your craftsmanship is impeccable.

Yes Shawn and Cali how time flies and already almost the end of February and I was remarking to a friend the other day how time seems to have sped by so far. Soon be time to change the clock forward an hour so an increase in light but also of a morning. We are never happy but at least it should be warmer, hopefully. Cali hope Daddy gave you some of his breakfasts, looked yummy!

Great job! A lot of things are hand made and it adds to their value, but few hand made items are also cut without Miter Saws, table saws, routers etc. Your hand made cabin is like a work of art, we get to watch come together. Yes it is hard work and getting older doesn't help, but this cabin will be there for your grandchildren's children.

Greetings from Virginia. Silver Fox, you wear it well! You re not old your seasoned. I so enjoy and look forward to your videos! Your craftsmanship is on point. I was wondering since you put in the sink, will you be filtering water somehow from that nearby lake? And also wondered if the bacon you cook on that beautiful stove pork or deer?

Hi Shawn, this is mahesh. I though the natural light is a bit less. Are you plannin to hava sky light or sky lit provision on the roof? That will be wonderful for the natural light to come in and make the cabin very bright. But overal lovely cabin Shawn. Grt work sir.
