I mill a few oak and ash logs from the old cabin property, use birch lumber that I milled a couple of years ago and a few scraps of rough black walnut that I bought off a farmer 27 years ago (and have moved and stored in new locations 5 times over the years) to start building the indoor kitchen.

that cabinet base. looks awesome in that colour. if the rest of the kitchen turns out close to that in colour it should be very nice.
.
I hope to see you make a pull down staircase and rail for the loft. be a great way to save space and keep access to the loft. make it with treads and even Cali can climb up.
.
the pull down stair would be great because you can have it down when you need to get up to the loft. but you can put it up to make space for a chair or some such when you dont need to go up.

So here's a question I've had for a while about your sawmill. Why haven't you built a shelter over it? Is it a time issue or just haven't thought of it? I think having some sort of cover over it would be a big help, especially to protect it from rain and show. Plus, all the time saved from having to shovel the snow off of it just to use it. Just a thought. Not sure if you'll actually see this as I'm sure you get a lot of comments and can't answer them all.

The interior is really starting to come together now and I'm looking forward to seeing how the rustic kitchen turns out. Judging by everything else you've done so far, it should be perfect. Cheers from the UK.

I have always wondered, How often do you sharpen your saws? Do you do it yourself or send out to do it? I watched my grandpa sharpen his and set the teeth

Thanks Shawn, burning wood to heat our houses is another good way to beat out the government corruption of energy cost.
Long live WE THE PEOPLE.

I like the variations of wood for this project. The use of the Black Walnut from 27 years ago grabbed my attention. Should look great when finished.
