I think the hooks on the squid rig where too thick and couldent puncture trought the tentacles. The exact moment you released pressure by taking the line whit your hands the squid got away. Theres no way you didtn had a giant hooked up. Just the rig cannot stall a peen reel like that. Yall should try contacting yamashita from japan and put togher the ultimate craken rig. Should be big, resiliant but razor sharp like needle

Simply cutting the line and leaving the hook in the mouth of all these swordfish makes my heart bleed. What cruelty to animals. Unfortunately, the lives of some animals simply mean nothing to Americans. Absolutely nothing. I wish something like this would be punished with the harshest penalties. Best wishes from Germany - try to be good and fair to the animals. Especially when fishing. Peace

Hi there you realy hit the spot for me when I did here cancer gave you this goal I myself had cancer in 2020 a tumour on my tonsil my goal is to fish as much as I can im still saving for a boat for off sure fishing and the othere one is to eat lots of very tasty food because I lost my tast with kemo and radiation and deep sea fish are the best tasty food for me

Josh. Great Program. I lived in Panama and fish Tropic Star Lodge, great fishing there. Where did you find the picture at the beginning of your show, don’t know if you knew that was the 2 nd Marlin ever caught in Panama. The angler was Louis Schmidt. The man at the lower Jaw is my Father George (Moon) Mullins in 1932

Nobody else is gonna touch in the fact that whatever was in that line had to have hands and was just pulling on the line to see what’s on the other end But was clearl smart enough to stay away from the hooks n not even show interest to the tuna Smh maaaaaan I think they found mermaids

if you are going to accidently catch sharks, whale etc that is not the target fish, you MUST use hooks that rust very quickly. No non rust proof hooks-that is cruelty to the shark, whale etc. any non-rust hooks should all be banned- hooks don’t cost much at all.

No way the Kraken was fitting in that pan! It would also take way too much butter! I wish I could learn about fishing someday. Your enthusiasm is inspiring! Pulling something or nothing from the midnight zone is both exciting and terrifying.

Irresponsible. Probing at that depth will likely hook a large animal and that boat cannot engage in whale size creatures. In addition bringing up a creature from that depth is an automatic death sentence for the fish.

I’m willing to bet you hit undertow with that bait. You need to have a reel that can handle some serious drag to deal with the current and be able to real in an animal that’s capable of pulling a boat.

I remember seeing Josh in the hospital bed talking about his cancer and it just broke my heart so much to see him weak and going through that but now he bounced back and doing well I am beyond elated for him

bonito is NOT bait-its good eating food, dont waste the bonitos. shouldnt you fish for squid at night have a better chance since they come up from the deep at night. ps its called current agasint that rig

What you thought was squid I would say was the strech in the line makes the line to giant rubber band. The movement of the boat on the surface stretches the line and gets the bait bouncing like hell

Question not sure if it would work or show anything but do the make small cameras that would work hooked to the bottom of the hook system. Seeing you got all that sticking out.

Look around, talk to some locals they know where to drop a line.
Smack a glow stick on that thing it won't hurt.

that 3D printed part will fail you on a giant squid. all thats holding the hook in is a screw into plastic. you need to go metal and also put a set of hooks above the bait
