I travel to Texas to go sight fishing for the largest gar species in the world, the alligator gar. These fish are prehistoric and have been around since the dinosaurs Kyle aka The Fish Whisperer, Henry Martin from Catching Dinosaurs, and I went searching on a river for a monster 200lb alligator gar. I used a drone to help search for these giant fish on the surface. Immediately, we spotted a giant garfish swimming twenty feet from the bank. We pitched a filet of carp to the fish, and it ate grabbed it I fought the fish for about thirty seconds before it managed to get dehooked. Shortly after we spotted another big gar on the surface with the drone. The giant fish ate the bait right beside the boat I fought the fish for about ten minutes before we landed it at the bank. This fish was a new personal record We quickly removed the hook and released the fish. Later in the day, I spotted another giant gar on the surface. Kyle wanted to catch the fish using a topwater lure. He threw the yellow lure behind the shrub where the fish sat, and within a few seconds of twitching the bait, the gar swam up and smashed it Unfortunately, Kyle lost the fish. We hooked a few more gar on lures and then decided to call it a day. The next morning we headed out to the mouth of the river and used a different technique, soaking baits. After a few hours, I hooked the first long-nosed gar of the trip, and shortly after another alligator gar using cut baits on the bottom. Texas was a blast, and we caught some giant fish, but the quest for a 200lb alligator gar continues

Great way to find the big fish by using a drone, one day people will be catching these fish via a drone without a rod, & yes i have seen it many times that people are taking all the fish away whatever the size. Please put these fish back & give someone else a chance to catch these fish in the future, other wise fish will be wiped out just like man has destroyed the rest of the planet. Great video with catch & release every time

I just had a quick question regarding the rigs you sell. but first let me just say, Awesome video man The last Gar was a Brute When you fish for toothed fish like this do you tend towards steel leader or your super heavy monofilament rigs? I am always torn between the durability of the steel or the stealth of the mono, and I can't seem to find a happy medium. Any suggestions?

Man I'm located roght here in texas and the biggest gar I've caught was 7 foot but I have seen them up to ever bit of 10 foot and that 7 footer wore me down on 50lb class tackle I use to catch sharks and I about pulled the fish out of the water on the hook set and got pics and let him go fun fight for a freshwater fish

Hey BlacktipH I liked your video. I live in Texas and one way to catch gar is to take a peice of rope and fray it out and dip it in blood. It gets caught in the gars tech and it works very well, and the best part is there is no hook required.

First off, I hope youre using circle hooks if youre planning to release those fish. Second I wouldnt consider using a drone site fishing. Third, fish of that size should always, if possible, be released while in the water. Just my two cents.

Some bayou's in Louisiana where I lived for a year were so over populated with alligator gars that fishermen threw them up high on the banks after caught. Some areas stunk of rotting fish for weeks

Big fish, easy to catch and a boring and fast fight. Sry but not so interesting. But the fishes are interesting to see. Edit. : oh with Plastik lures it's funny. And by both: the hookset is not easy; )

Alligator gar used to be considered a horrible trash fish and now everybody wants to catch them. Goes to show that just because a belief is common opinion doesn't mean that it's a correct one to have.
