I once trained bluegill in a pond similarly, to eat bread from my hand. I got some of the bigger ones to jump 18 inches out of the water. Unfortunately, they lost their fear not only of humans but also of wading birds. A heron camped out there and ate all of them in a few days.

Be careful who knows where this is. My dad's friend had a pond with pet bass in it that would literally eat out of his hands and someone heard about it and snuck in one night and clean them out.
