we go offshore fishing with my buddies Wesley, Greyson, and Jason to compete Spearfishing versus Rod and Reel fishing! Our targeted species was giant cobia! We began the day by using live bait and bucktail jigs, bouncing them off the bottom. Greyson hooked the first cobia, and it was a monster, weighing around 55lbs! Shortly after, I hooked the next cobia on an orange bucktail. This fish fought hard and probably around 40-45lbs. Wes and Greyson decided to jump in with their spearguns to catch more than we did on rod and reel. A few more fish were caught from the boat, and they were able to spear two more, along with a black grouper Wes spotted. Overall the rod and reel out preformed the spearguns 3 to 2!

It's
Spearfishing is MUCH more environmentally friendly as you only take what you need, no other fish get injured and no fishing gear gets left behind as ghost fishing gear. Its why I've started to move over towards spearfishing more and more: )
I will add however, 9: 35, NEVER load a speargun out of the water, it is ludicrously dangerous!
