Someone Killed my 10lb PET Largemouth Bass. (foul play) Michael: What a crying shame to lose such a beautiful fish! Doing some quick research, the average bass in the south lives to about 11 years. Apparently, the fish age can be checked by checking rings (like trees) in the scales or other hard body parts. You said you had cameras set up already, but perhaps a liberal sprinkling of No Fishing signs would act as a deterrent (or perhaps as an advertisement.

So good to see your grandfather, I have sooo many memories of my Granddaddy and his pond, feeding and caring for his fish, clearing lilypads and the loss, people caught his white Cats out of the pond. Grandad had his fish 'trained' to come to the sound of a coffee can beating on a washtub full of food, then he would cast it way out for the fish to eat.

Not trying to sound like a broken record but cameras and signs. Also might want to check if someone dumped some other fish in your pond. Had a friend in Shreveport loose all his large fish cause someone dumped several alligator-gar in his pond.

Gators travel. gators leave pieces sometimes. Spot it or any gators at night with flash light and see if eyes glow (gator spottin) Put up deer cams and don't do vid on where deer cams are. Put up sign, no fishing.

you might want to go and get your scuba gear one time or something and scuba dive around the bottom of your pond and see if there's any type of objects down there that could have killed it

Hey Jordan, maybe it time to invest in your own land and build your own private and gated pond. Use it for educational purposes and help secure the ecosystem. I m sure people will help the cause.

Fish die for a lot of reasons. Unless there is a confession or you catch it happening again to another fish, it will probably remain a mystery.
Sorry for your loss.

Sorry about your fish bro. I think it was just Mother Nature that took the fish, and that means hundreds of reasons why. But we have to start calling you The Pond Ninja!
