IT'S THE BANANA! Last year we raised a sunken 150 foot barge in North Washington State. We had 6 commercial pumps going, everything working good. Went into town to get dinner and snacks from the local store. Came back out to the barge, the 2 pumps we left running immediately quit, none of the 4 remaining pumps would start, the barge started filling with water and sinking again, after 1 hour of Frantically working on 6 pumps and none wanting to run, we grabbed what we could, threw it into the skiff and hopped in to head for shore, except we bumped the side of the steel ladder on the barge and put a hole in our skiff, now the skiff, our Only way to shore, was taking on water! CRAP! It's now 10pm, total darkness, we barely made it to shore, not waiting for the trailer, just beached it, but landed on top of a group of sharp rocks that ripped the floor wide open. We jumped out and started throwing things from the skiff to the sand, I grabbed the shopping bag of snacks and found a Full clump of bananas! AARRGGHHH!
People came quickly from the shore to help, they saw it all. One said You were doing so great, what happened? I pointed to the clump of bananas, they all looked and shook their heads, No Way, Who brought those on board? someone that chose Not to believe Centuries of Incidents and Warnings. That mistake cost us over 22, 000 for 6 replacement pumps and a skiff. GRRRRR! Believe what you want, but this group won't be messin' with Yellow Fruit of Destruction anytime soon.

Grrrrr! I'm not superstitious about the banana myth thing but, that was really a tough and frustrating day to be out. I saw another youtube video, I think it was maybe deermeatfordinner) they purposely brought bananas on the boat, made extra effort and emphasized video footage of the banana, and even use a whole banana peel as skirt. guess what. THAT was THE ROD which ended up catching multiple Dolphin/Mahi/Dorado! :-D Myth busted. Anyways for your video, I did notice the banana increases the awareness when things were difficult. That day the bite was hard to come by and the rhythm was off. Everything seemed to be affected from a)Brians gaffing b)light bites c)deep break offs d)tangled lines. But hey lets not forget. we live in Florida, we have the love of fishing, we live near water, we have the ability to go out on a boat, etc. We are blessed. So it's easier to take some of these random bad days. Keep up the good work. You know you're still awesome.

sooo many questions specially because i lost my. first and only dorado in Playa del. Carmen so I need to catch my dorado and just bought a brand new trolling rod, i normally fish with a spinning rod which my husband said is not what i want to use dorado fishing but you guys are. WE KNOW NOTHING just to be clear but wondering if its better to troll for dorado or jigging like u guys? we always thought they were top feeders 5 - 10 ft below surface, what is the right way to hit dorado? i dream about catching mine

Try fishing Puget Sound. You can fish all day and not catch a single fish. You can fish all week and only catch a single salmon. Bottomfishign for lingcod and halibut is only open for 3 days, the rockfish are a closed species, the starry flounder can be picky about what they eat, and the staghorn sculpin will eat your bait off and sometimes get hooked if it stays still on the bottom for 5 minutes. I would love to see Brian try to catch a salmon here.

I really appreciate you guys being out there for me. Since I can't be out there, somebody has to do it. It might as well be you. Brian you are so right. What a blessing it is to be able to be out there fishing. Do you ever stay out there overnight? Was thinking you might after the doldrums kind of day. Always enjoy watching Darcie, and now you Brian. You guys make a great pair. Keep up the good work.

Maybe it's because Brian toss the banana peel in the ocean it's called littering I understand it's bio-degradable but still it doesn't belong in the waters. :( LOL then again Brian mis gaffed the mahi mahi: ( but don't give up fishing. follow your dreams and keep on catching

I went fishing about 20 minutes before dark tonight, I always catch something, but nothing bit today except mosquitoes. tried to shoot a beaver this morning bout. 7. shots. 12 gauge buck shots. damn their skin is thick. better luck maybe Sunday morning. nice video.

Brian, worth a mention. Grapefruit has no superstitious myths to foul the days fishing but it has great fat burning properties. Studies show a grapefruit a day yields a pound a month weight loss with no change to diet. Yeah, I know bananas taste better.

I don't know Darcie, Frank had a Banana stuck in his tailpipe. could go so many ways with that. Brian, it's a thing, stop taking Bananas on the boat! I'd say you own Darcie a nice expensive dinner, so take her out to a nice place will you. :-)

Both times I took bananas on my boat I had to be towed in (bad coil) and the next time I ran a pontoon into a metal pole and made a long dent down the side of the pontoon. I just think I'd rather be safe than sorry so no bananas on the boat!
