Nice job! It ain't ever easy, especially the first time. I been hooked four times, but I didn't know braid trick. Thanks for sharing, that! The worst one I was kayak fishing and caught big northern. I brought him in the kayak and while trying to remove the hooks from his mouth, he knitted my hands together by flopping around. With the fingers that weren't hooked, I managed to get him unhooked and pushed him with my feet to the front of the kayak. Getting him off was a relief, because when he thrashed the hooks went deeper. I understand that sick feeling that Darc had, that made her cry. I'm basically stranded and can't paddle in. I had to do something, so I examined the situation. My left thumb had a barb buried at base of the thumbnail and the flesh, my right hand had two barbs of the other treble hook buried deep into the last digit of the little pinky. I grabbed the lure with my right hand and gave it a hard fast pull, it ripped through the thin layer of skin that lays atop the base of thumbnail. It hurt and bled, I was very relieved, because now I could paddle back in and after stringing up the fish, that is exactly what I did, with the big Walley Diver dangling from my little finger. I made it in and took a few shots whiskey to help ease the pain. My cousin was there and when he cut the hooks they burned. I begged him to jerk the hooks out with needle nose pliers, while I held a sharp knife against barbed side of the shaft. He just wouldn't do it, but he did take me to a hospital. Where they turned it into to a 700 dollar ordeal, I didn't want to watch, but I should have. because for fifteen minutes it was very painful, not because he was removing hooks, but shooting my finger up with nova-cane. That and the bill, hurt. Live and learn, I don't try to remove treble hooked plugs from northern pike without long nose pliers anymore. Cheers!

No shame in crying everyone cries. Brian did a good job. Most everyone who fishes has been hooked, I got hooked after I caught a 10 pound large mouth bass in a farm pond. When I lipped him to show him to my Dad and brother he jerked and came out of my grasp and seek a top water treble hook in the palm of my hand the fish was flopping around further sinking and ripping my hand. I had to grab fish against my body only then my brother got the fish loose and got the hook out. The treble was so deep had to cut lure up and push hook through said a lot of F words that day. Now the big boy hangs on my wall with what left of my favorite top water hump back rebel hanging from his lip.

I had one when I was little my Dad yanked it out with his bare hand yeah I cried I'm grown now and my 300 pound boar hog bite me and his 2inch tooth went all the way through the bottom of my hand above my wrist and missed bones and big veins he nipped me he could of took my hand off. I had dropped his corn can in pen while feeding him and as when a dog has a bone when I went to teach for it with a stick he bit. I didnot cry just wont do that again.

Did that last spring while fishing in Mexico. Made sure the other hooks were isolated and hooked on the forceps as tight as possible and gave a quick deliberate jerk. Out it came and I carried on. No other issues arose. Hurts though

You did a good job. My dad got one in his head a long time a go. He had to go to the HP. He came back to fish just like you. His friend did to him by casting his rod. That had to hurt. So I know it hurt you.

Holy Crap, Darcizzle! You made me cry right along with you! ANYONE who has had a hook buried in their flesh knows how much that hurts. And fingers are extra sensitive!
