Smart move getting the glove. My buddy brand new knife cut himself to the bone on the first fish I cleaned the other 100lbs. And took him to the hospital.

Place a wet towel under your cutting board, it will keep it from moving. Also works when using a cutting board on a cooler. Yes, it prevents more stitches.
