We Caught these Beautiful Aquarium Fish, Cleaned and Cooked them in Record Time! Me: So Gabe I have a serious question, don't leave me hanging please. Was your Oscars meat orange on the inside when you filleted it(I couldn't really tell) I've only eaten Oscar 1 time about 10 years ago I caught him in a gorgeous little spillway beautiful water and plus I had already ate fish out of that spillway unharmed (one side is fresh water the other is river water half salt half fresh I previously had eaten some snook/Redfish etc from the river side just never the fresh water side) so me and my buddy both ended up hooking up at the same time and both caught Oscars I went to throw it back just because I've never caught one in the wild I've always known them as pets but when I went to release it my buddy about had a conniption, he convinced me let's take these home and try them so we ended up catching like 4-5 decent sized ones and they all had bright orange meat on the inside they were really good though I'm glad I let him convince me lol, I know I went into deep detail so Incase you missed the question, did the Oscars you caught and cooked in this video have orange flesh on the inside, and does every Oscar have orange flesh?

I love this episode! Finally eating some oscars! Tasty fellers for sure! #BlueGabe thats the fastest I-ve ever seen anyone catch clean and cook! #KellyYoung to answer your question about the -slime- it-s a actually a glyco-protein that protects the fish from parasites as you may have already known but what determines the amount is it-s environment. Same for a lot of reptiles as well like frogs. Some frogs are more -slimy- because they are water frogs while others produce slime when threatened on land. and there-s your tech-tip of the week y-all! Awesome video y-all!

To answer Kelly-s question about differences in fish slime: it-s about protecting themselves. Fish with large scales (snapper, drum, carp) don-t need a lot of slime, bc their scales protect them to an extent against disease, and even predators/external parasites. Fish with very fine (trout, mackerel) or no scales (catfish, eels) need the slime to serve the same purpose as the larger, more ancient scale types. That-s why handling the slimier fish with dry hands is basically a death sentence. Remove the slime, remove their protection.

I have no doubt that the Luminox watches are high quality, and I have no doubt that you like the watch, but I find it funny that you weren't correctly pronouncing the name of a product you are endorsing by calling it -Aluminox-. Just say'n.

I've shot a mule deer an cooked back straps in Montana within 15 min from kill. 5 minutes from cut. With no yt clout your not the only one hunting and fishing, vaxed conservative lol. Those fish are gross slime is a abundance of bacteria.

kelly i believe some fish are more slimy than others depends on where they live. i believe slime allows those fish to move much better amongst the weeds. imbs and grass where they hunts. and basically locamutes

Gabe, I would like to suggest what I use when fishing. A machinist bib is great for wiping your hands on and it has three front pockets for tools or whatever you need. Keeps your shirt and shorts clean.
