I love this episode! Finally eating some oscars! Tasty fellers for sure! #BlueGabe thats the fastest I-ve ever seen anyone catch clean and cook! #KellyYoung to answer your question about the -slime- it-s a actually a glyco-protein that protects the fish from parasites as you may have already known but what determines the amount is it-s environment. Same for a lot of reptiles as well like frogs. Some frogs are more -slimy- because they are water frogs while others produce slime when threatened on land. and there-s your tech-tip of the week y-all! Awesome video y-all!

To answer Kelly-s question about differences in fish slime: it-s about protecting themselves. Fish with large scales (snapper, drum, carp) don-t need a lot of slime, bc their scales protect them to an extent against disease, and even predators/external parasites. Fish with very fine (trout, mackerel) or no scales (catfish, eels) need the slime to serve the same purpose as the larger, more ancient scale types. That-s why handling the slimier fish with dry hands is basically a death sentence. Remove the slime, remove their protection.

I have no doubt that the Luminox watches are high quality, and I have no doubt that you like the watch, but I find it funny that you weren't correctly pronouncing the name of a product you are endorsing by calling it -Aluminox-. Just say'n.

kelly i believe some fish are more slimy than others depends on where they live. i believe slime allows those fish to move much better amongst the weeds. imbs and grass where they hunts. and basically locamutes

Gabe, I would like to suggest what I use when fishing. A machinist bib is great for wiping your hands on and it has three front pockets for tools or whatever you need. Keeps your shirt and shorts clean.
