I love to experiment with my fishing. I took a chance with some good tides to explore some new areas to fish at anchor. Using different baits and rigs I manage to catch 10 different species and find some really pretty fish

Does anybody know why are fish so localised. For example, you might go to one sand bank and know turbot could be there. Why are they not more common in all areas. Why are thresher sharks at one place but mako sharks prefer another. I'm moving to Scarborough where I'm told it's mainly pollack, cod and bass. Why no rays, it's sandy? why no halibut? Why no sharks? The tuna used to run up that coast so I thought the sharks followed. I've always thought it was strange that all fish are not everywhere (temperature withstanding.

Good session & video. If you can, please take a few seconds to describe what you've seen on your depthfinder, that caused you to stop at that -mixed/broken ground-, as obviously it was too deep to clearly see the bottom from the surface. It would be most handy to also start getting your depthfinder interpretation experience and insights, especially ito things like flat reef vs broken/undulating reef vs pinnacles or trenches etc and/or sandy vs muddy bottoms.

The new camera seems to be working well mate! Great video as always, I feel like I'm on repeat saying that but your videos are always on point. Hope you are all well. Say Hi to Hazy from Tony #leavenotrace --
Ps. Gurnard is also my favourite fish of all time. They taste incredible!

Just came back from a week around mavagissey no fish fishing no fish spear fishing 2 guys said they had fished every tide for 2 weeks no fish and a trawler captain mentioned he had only had 5 kg of mackerel all day, disappointing for a first spear fishing trip but o well.

Great video thanks John! Watching all of those species coming up was like being at an Aquarium! Very unusual & pretty Wrasse too! I've also just found & watched your Podcast - I'd heard rumours about it - and came across it by chance! Stay safe & well! --

Love it! Over here in Australia we have a couple of species not unlike yours but the rest are new to my eyes. Gurnard, whiting of various species and smooth hound we call gummy shark. They're my number one target species but the big girls go back every time!

Can't beat a session like that, nice to see you're still the ling magnet! If you look at the left side of the wrasse near the gills, looks like some sort of damage, might be why it was so pale?
